How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,426 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Escape fits buyers who want a compact crossover with multiple powertrain options, a comfortable ride, and impressive technology. Its drawbacks are harder to ignore, though: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and it is a poor value for money.

The market also shows 35.6% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape is positioned as a familiar compact crossover with a comfortable ride and multiple powertrain choices, and its expert evaluation points to strong technology and safety equipment. The performance notes also describe the turbocharged setup as quick in acceleration, while the hybrid is framed as the more cost-conscious choice.

If you want lower ownership stress, the hybrid powertrain is the better long-term bet than the thirstier turbocharged gas setup.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the cabin materials and tech-heavy controls are part of the ownership experience and can show wear or usability issues over time.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2024 Escape was updated with a more aggressive look, revised trim lineup, and enhanced safety features, but the base trim appears to be canceled. Lower trims use an 8-inch display, while upper trims get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid is the efficiency play, while the 2.0-liter turbo is quicker but less compelling on value.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Upper trims add a 13.2-inch touchscreen, Amazon Alexa, and a complimentary three-year connected-navigation subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter setup averages 26 mpg in combined driving, while the hybrid is expected to get 39 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Escape’s updated styling and standard tech without paying for the pricier performance-oriented or luxury-leaning trims. It makes the most sense if you want the core Escape experience and don’t need the extra equipment found higher up.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a sportier appearance without stepping into the more expensive ST-Line Select or ST-Line Elite models. It keeps the Escape’s comfortable, easygoing character while avoiding the higher price of the 2.0-liter turbo trims.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and moves you closer to the upper end of the lineup, but the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is described as overkill for the Escape’s mission. It makes sense only if you specifically want the extra power and are comfortable paying for it.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded gas model, with the larger digital display, premium tech, and available upscale touches. It suits you if you want the most features, but the content makes clear that it is expensive for what you get.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the lineup and follows the same basic logic as the other 2.0-liter turbo trims: more equipment, but not a compelling value proposition.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want the Escape’s electrified powertrain and more than 35 miles of electric-only driving range. It is the right pick if fuel savings matter more than all-wheel drive.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and higher trims can add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,426 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,251, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,628 sits slightly below last year's $23,715.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The market still shows enough inventory to keep pricing competitive, but the model’s value story is not especially strong.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the IIHS had not rated the 2024 model at the time of evaluation, though the 2023 Escape earned Good ratings except for a Marginal score in a new side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Ford appears to have canceled the Base trim, making this year feel like a more streamlined carryover.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,516, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,628 average.
• It offers a handsome, tech-forward cabin with a strong available engine.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the latest version of the Escape with strong safety, good inventory, and a softer price trend. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2023 is the better value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the features you want.
