Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia stands out in the crowded full-size SUV market thanks to its recent redesign, which not only includes advanced technology but also a robust hybrid powertrain that significantly enhances power and efficiency. The vehicle is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission, offering an impressive 437 horsepower and a towing capacity of up to 9,520 pounds. Despite some compromises, such as a cramped third-row seating area and reduced cargo capacity compared to competitors, the Sequoia excels in providing a strong driving experience and an extensive suite of standard safety features through Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. The luxurious interior, particularly in higher trims like the Capstone, includes upscale finishes and cutting-edge infotainment technology, making it an appealing choice for buyers looking for both comfort and capability.

I compared the Capstone Sequoia to the GMC Yukon Denali. I think I could be happy with either one, but I will choose the Toyota because I like that the chassis comes from the Tundra truck so it is a proven and stiff frame. I also like the power outlets for 120 Vac & 12 Vdc.

The 2023 Toyota Sequioa is an SUV worth owning. Its huge, its luxurious and strong. However, I have two issues with the SUV... 1. The SUV is highly unaffordable. The price is more than $100,000 for some of the models and even the said cheaper ones are nowhere within reach at the dealerships. 2. Also, prior to its production, the 2023 Sequioa was advertised as having CAPTAIN chairs for the most part. I was disappointed to know that the ones with CAPTAIN chairs cost way more than the ones without it.

Got a chance to ride in a limited yesterday. I have owned Sequoias since 2007, we buy them for the room, quietness and solidness. The 2023 Limited that I drove was surprisingly a little bit sloppy on the ride. It has the punch of a turbo which was fun. The high end interior felt a little cheap, 3rd row space has evaporated and you now have to decide to take people or luggage, no longer both. Beautiful vehicle which it was better.

I drive a 2016 Sequoia,. I love the way it works for our large family! When I saw the new looks I was excited! I finally got to test drive one last week and was really disappointed. It no longer has the spacious interior that works for a large family. I’d say anyone. Over 5”6 in height will start to be too big for the back seats. My kids hated it in the back and begged me not to buy it. I wish they could have updated the look - and kept the functionality that families have loved for decades. The positives are that It handles well, is better on gas, is really great to look at and has great features. But the new ones no longer have space in the back for taller kids and all your stuff.
