CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Toyota Corolla

Summary
With 5,865 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,668.00, 32.1% of 2023 Toyota Corollas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Toyota Corolla 4.33 / 5 stars.
80.4% of 2023 Corolla models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Corolla stands out because it combines the Corolla’s long-running reputation for practicality with a broader, more appealing lineup than many buyers may expect. Toyota describes this generation as offering a much wider model range than its predecessor, along with a degree of style and desirability that recent Corolla models have lacked. The sedan and hatchback body styles give shoppers a choice between a lower entry price and a sportier look, while the hybrid is offered only as a sedan and the GR Corolla only as a hatchback. That variety makes the 2023 Corolla feel more tailored to different buyers than the nameplate’s reputation for simple transportation might suggest.
For 2023, Toyota gave the Corolla a facelift that brought fresh bumper designs, a new eight-inch touchscreen display, climate control, and a multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models. All but the entry-level sedan also gained remote keyless entry and a smart key system with push-button start as standard, while a blind spot monitor became standard on top-spec models and optional on others. Toyota also upgraded the base gas engine to the more powerful 2.0-liter unit, so all gas Corollas shared the same engine, and the hybrid received a power increase from 121 to 134 horsepower with torque rising to 156 pound-feet. Those updates help the 2023 Corolla feel more modern and better equipped than its modest image might imply.
It still has the core Corolla strengths that matter most to used-car shoppers: it is well engineered, built to last, and backed by a strong reliability reputation. At the same time, the Corolla remains a sensible choice rather than an especially thrilling one, and its appeal is rooted more in ease of ownership than excitement. For buyers who want a compact car with broad choice, useful technology, and a proven reputation, the 2023 Toyota Corolla is distinctive because it delivers more range and polish than the model’s traditional no-nonsense image suggests.

Excellent reliability. Drives smooth. Only minor downsides are it only has usbc ports, center console is small, driver window controls are positioned weirdly and lastly the sound proofing is a little weak. The car is definitely a solid move and the pros out weighs the cons.

This was a base model. There's no frills on it which is fine. It's a Toyota so it's going to run forever. If you're looking for just basic excellent transportation and vanilla, this is a good car.

How much does the 2023 Toyota Corolla cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $20,754 |
| Year-Round Low | $19,155.97 |
| Year-Round High | $20,805.95 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,672 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.40% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 5,944 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $19,155.97, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year.
The 2023 Corolla stands out because it combines the Corolla’s long-running reputation for practicality with a broader, more appealing lineup than many buyers may expect. You get sedan and hatchback body styles, plus a hybrid sedan and GR Corolla hatchback at the edges of the range, so the car can fit different priorities better than a one-size-fits-all compact. It also gained a facelift, an eight-inch touchscreen, climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models, which makes it feel more modern and better equipped than its modest image suggests.
For you, that means the 2023 Corolla makes the most sense if you want a compact car that is easy to live with, useful, and more versatile than its reputation implies. 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Corolla is described as well engineered, built to last, and backed by a strong reliability reputation. Its appeal is rooted more in ease of ownership than excitement, which is exactly what many used-car shoppers want from a compact daily driver. The broader lineup and updated equipment also help it feel like a more complete package without changing its core practical character.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is usually tied less to the model’s basic durability and more to how well a specific example was maintained and used.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Corolla?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with the history report to confirm accident status, title history, and any major insurance claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check the condition of the brakes, tires, electronics, and interior wear. Focus on how the car was maintained and whether its equipment works as expected, especially on higher-trim examples with more technology.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Corolla?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 5,944 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 79.9% of listings are accident-free.

What is the 2023 Toyota Corolla's resale value?
The current average of $20,754 sits slightly above last year's $20,672.
That small increase suggests the Corolla is holding value in a steady, predictable way rather than swinging sharply with market changes. For a future seller, that kind of stability is useful because it points to consistent buyer interest and less risk of a sudden drop in asking prices. It also helps that the Corolla’s reputation for practicality and easy ownership keeps it relevant in the used market.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $18,728, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,754 average.
- It offers broad configuration choice across body styles, transmissions, and powertrains.
The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, more modern-feeling Corolla and can stretch to the current market, the 2023 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value path and still gives you the Corolla’s core practicality.
