Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota 4Runner remains a beloved choice among traditional SUV enthusiasts thanks to its robust body-on-frame design and off-road capabilities. Though it has not undergone a complete redesign in over a decade, it continues to provide reliable performance, with a 4.0-liter V6 that delivers 270 horsepower. Notably, improvements such as standard blind-spot monitoring and the introduction of the limited-production 40th Anniversary Special Edition have added modern flare while retaining its rugged charm. While the 4Runner excels in off-road conditions—with features like Multi-Terrain Select and Downhill Assist—it can feel cumbersome on paved roads, and its fuel economy is less than stellar at 17 mpg. Overall, its blend of reliability, spaciousness, and timeless appeal positions it as a practical choice for adventurous buyers looking for an SUV that can handle both daily chores and outdoor escapades.

4runner is everything I expected. It has everything we need as a family of five. The layout of the dashboard is easy to use and easy to acclimate to.

The ORP pkg had all the options I wanted and had low miles as well. Comfort, convenience and even the color I preferred. The engine has a history of reliability and it should hold its value over time.
