CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Chevrolet Traverse
Summary
With 6,298 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,361, 34.3% of 2023 Chevrolet Traverse listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse 5 / 5 stars.
84.9% of 2023 Chevrolet Traverse listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse stands out as a very large three-row crossover that prioritizes space and family usefulness over flash. It is described as one of the largest crossover SUVs on the market, with a roomy cabin and a third row that is among the biggest in any crossover. That size gives it a strong appeal for buyers who want minivan-like practicality in an SUV shape, and the available used-market value can make it an attractive family hauler.
For 2023, the Traverse is part of the second generation, which brought a more muscular look, new tech, and improved reliability. It uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and the cabin is noted for easy-to-use technology and a solid set of standard comfort and convenience features. The standard seven-inch touchscreen, optional eight-inch unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start all help it feel well equipped for everyday use.
Its strengths are clear: lots of room, a comfortable ride, and a practical feature set that suits families well. The tradeoffs are just as clear, though. It is not as plush as some rivals, it is not especially exciting to drive or look at, and its reliability record is only average compared with some competitors. Even so, for shoppers who care most about space, comfort, and straightforward usability, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse has a lot going for it.

I love my new 2023 Traverse! The Premier came with all the bells and whistles. I was looking for an SUV that was roomy but still got decent gas mileage. The captain’s chairs were a must along with the 3rd row, which has plenty of leg room for an average sized person, not just small children.

| Year-Round Low | $29,296 |
| Year-Round High | $32,625 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $32,629 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.21% |

There are 6,323 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.
Is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?
Yes — owners give it 5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The biggest recurring positives are its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and family-friendly practicality. Reviewers also highlight the generous room for passengers and the useful set of features, while noting that the technology can feel limited compared with some rivals. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a roomy three-row SUV that emphasizes everyday usefulness over flash. With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with owners praising its comfort and spaciousness over the long haul. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for family duty and routine commuting. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear from heavy family use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Traverse?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a history report so you can confirm accident status, title history, and service patterns. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and overall condition, since this model is often chosen for family use and can see a lot of daily wear. Focus especially on signs of heavy interior use, because a roomy three-row SUV can hide more wear than you might expect at first glance.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Traverse?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop patiently.
- Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 6,323 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 84.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,296, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?
The current average of $29,296 sits slightly below last year's $32,629.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For future resale, a lower purchase price can reduce your downside if you decide to sell later. The Traverse’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand among used shoppers who want a spacious three-row SUV.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $24,410, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $29,296 average.
- It offers practical space and easy everyday usability.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $37,501, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,296 average.
- It adds more space and a larger touchscreen.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and market availability, the 2023 is the strongest all-around choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want newer features and more space, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
