How much does the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 7.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,823 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu, and that lines up with its role as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan. The overview points to a comfortable cabin, straightforward features, and pricing that tends to undercut rivals like the Camry and Accord, so you’re looking at a practical choice rather than a flashy one. It also emphasizes later-generation improvements in refinement and reliability, which makes the Malibu easier to live with as a family sedan. With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the 2023 Malibu as benefiting from later-generation improvements in refinement and reliability, which supports its case as a sensible used buy. It also frames the car as easy to live with, with a comfortable cabin and straightforward features that fit everyday use well. For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained and kept in good condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm the car’s background and make sure the title and accident record are clean. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and overall condition, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on being comfortable and easy to live with. Focus on finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no signs of neglect.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,823 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,539, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,539 sits slightly below last year's $17,899.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can work against you if you’re planning to sell soon. On the other hand, the lower entry price may help keep demand steady among shoppers who want a value-focused midsize sedan. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you can help protect your future resale position. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan and you can find a clean example at a competitive price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-cost alternative gives you similar comfort and practicality for less money.
