overall

Summary
With 237 currently listed for sale and an average price of $227,923, 32.5% of 2022 Porsche 911 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Porsche 911 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
96.6% of 2022 Porsche 911 listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Porsche 911 stands out because it blends approachable performance with everyday drivability. It is also a sports car that has been refined over generations, with its performance improving in small, steady steps rather than through dramatic reinvention. That balance helps explain why it has remained a go-to choice for so long.
In practice, the 2022 911 is appealing because it is fun to drive, comfortable, and fitted with premium interior materials. Those strengths make it feel special without turning it into something that is difficult to live with day to day. The cabin quality is a clear part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a luxury sports car experience.
There are tradeoffs, though. Cargo space is limited, advanced safety features are not standard, and it is poor value for money. Even so, the 2022 Porsche 911 remains distinctive because it delivers serious performance in a package that still works well for everyday use.

This is my dream car. It has the highest power and speed capabilities in the 911 line up but still great and comfortable for long drives or everyday trips to the market. I drove a 911 Carrera for many years so I was a little surprised it’s so much heavier than the Carrera, about 300lbs more. But it’s also double the horsepower. Needless to say I’m ecstatic to own a 911 Turbo S.

There are 917 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Porsche 911 a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Porsche 911 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
Owners consistently praise the exceptional performance, handling, and stylish design, while also calling out the high-quality interior materials and the incredible power it delivers. The 911 also comes through as a car that still works for everyday use, which matters if you want something special without giving up daily drivability.
The trade-offs are real: the cabin is excellent, but the car is still a sports car with compromises, and the expert review notes that it is poor value for money and has limited cargo space. In practical terms, this is a strong fit if you want a luxury sports car that feels refined and usable, not if you’re shopping for maximum space or value.
With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Porsche 911 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free, with buyers describing it as something they can count on for both spirited driving and everyday use. That kind of language matters because it suggests the ownership experience is not just exciting, but also consistently satisfying over time.
The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the 911 as well-mannered and easy to drive conservatively, even in higher-output forms. It also notes that the car’s performance remains approachable rather than intimidating, which usually helps reduce the stress that can come with living with a high-performance car.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright dependability and more about the cost and complexity that can come with owning a premium sports car.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Porsche 911?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s condition matches the seller’s description, especially because this is a premium sports car where repairs can be expensive. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, with extra attention to wear items, electronics, and any signs of hard use. Focus on how the car was maintained and whether its condition lines up with the mileage and asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Carrera gives you the core 911 experience, but the expert review notes that advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to step up or add options if you want more equipment.
- Powertrain: The 911 uses a rear-mounted horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, with rear-wheel drive on the standard car and all-wheel drive on versions with a 4 in the name. The PDK dual-clutch transmission improves acceleration and fuel efficiency, while the manual is the better choice if you want more engagement.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring.
- Infotainment: The touchscreen sits lower than in many cars, wireless Apple CarPlay is included, Android Auto requires a USB cable, and the base audio system may disappoint you.
- Fuel efficiency: The PDK transmission improves fuel efficiency, though no MPG figure is stated.
Which 2022 Porsche 911 trim should I buy?
The 2022 Porsche 911 is offered in 10 trim levels: Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3 Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Carrera: This is the trim that gives you the core 911 formula at the lowest entry point, with the standard rear-wheel-drive setup and the 379-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged boxer-six. It is the best-value starting point if you want the 911 experience without paying for extra power or AWD.
- Carrera 4: Choose this if you want the same basic setup as the Carrera but with all-wheel drive. It makes sense if traction matters more to you than keeping the price down.
- Carrera S: This is the best-value upgrade for most shoppers because it adds more power, and the expert review says the lower Carrera lineup is where most drivers will be satisfied. If you want a stronger performance margin without jumping into the pricier upper tiers, this is the one to target.
- Carrera 4S: Pick this if you want the Carrera S formula with all-wheel drive. It is the more secure-feeling choice if you want extra traction along with the stronger engine.
- Carrera GTS: This trim brings a 473-horsepower middle ground and adds a sport exhaust plus Sport drive modes that sharpen responses. It suits you if you want a more serious performance edge without going all the way to the Turbo models.
- Carrera 4 GTS: This is the AWD version of the GTS, so it makes sense if you want the same stronger performance with added traction.
- Turbo: The Turbo steps into much more expensive territory and is aimed at buyers who want a major jump in performance.
- Turbo S: This is the higher-output Turbo model and sits near the top of the lineup for buyers who want maximum road-going speed.
- GT3: This is the track-focused choice, and the expert review says the GT3 is best enjoyed on a race track where you can explore its full potential.
- GT3 Touring: Choose this if you want the GT3’s performance focus in a more restrained package.
The safety-package note is simple: advanced safety features are not standard, so check option content carefully on any trim you consider.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Porsche 911?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and move quickly when the right car appears.
- Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 917 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.35% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 93.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $212,075, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Porsche 911's resale value?
The current average of $216,994 sits slightly above last year's $212,018.
That upward move suggests the market still places strong value on this model year, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. A rising average price can help support your exit value, especially if your car is well kept and presents cleanly in photos and inspection. The fact that the year-round range stays relatively tight also points to a market that is willing to pay for the right example.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Porsche 911 safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. Other options include night vision and an integrated dashcam feature.
The expert review also notes that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to option content if safety tech matters to you. Compared with conventional sedans and SUVs, the 911 offers fewer safety features overall, which is typical for a sports car.
Should I buy a 2022 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.35% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 keeps the 911’s approachable performance and everyday drivability intact.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $219,454, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $216,994 average.
- It adds new variants like the Carrera T, GT3 RS, Sport Classic, and Dakar.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid inventory, and a slightly lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for broader variant choice and a newer model year, the 2023 is the better path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2022 remains the more compelling buy.
