Used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 4.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,250 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It is described as redesigned for 2022, and the hatchback body adds useful cargo space while keeping the Civic’s familiar character. The test-drive notes also point to a spacious cabin and a manual transmission, which make it especially appealing if you want everyday versatility with a more engaging drive.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the stereo is lacking, and the value proposition is weak for the money.

Only 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop carefully to find the right one.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview and test-drive notes describe a well-rounded hatchback with practical packaging, a spacious cabin, and standard advanced safety features. The performance notes also say the CVT works well with the turbocharged engine, with infrequent drone and a generally hushed operation.

The car’s safety and driver-assistance systems are presented as improved and refined, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. If you want a used one, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring each bring different equipment levels, and the biggest gaps show up in convenience and tech. Lower trims miss some of the more sophisticated digital displays and premium audio found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while the EX-L and Sport Touring use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The turbo engine is the stronger choice if you want more responsive everyday performance.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L get a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Sport Touring upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport Touring with the CVT should get 33 mpg in combined driving, while the manual version is rated at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic Hatchback basics with the 2.0-liter engine, CVT, and standard Honda Sensing. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it leaves out some of the nicer tech and convenience features found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a manual transmission option and keeps the price more approachable than the upper trims. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and affordability, this is the one to focus on.
• EX-L: This trim steps up to the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and adds more comfort and convenience, along with blind-spot warning. It suits you if you want stronger performance and more everyday polish without going all the way to the top trim.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, premium audio, navigation, and the most complete safety tech. It is the right pick if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.

Blind-spot warning is standard only on the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for the Sport Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings may move quickly.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,250 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,789, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $23,101 sits slightly below last year's $24,309.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than assuming the market will lift prices on its own.

Well-equipped examples with desirable features should hold up better than stripped-down cars, especially if they have clean history and strong maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.

One caveat is that the manual-transmission versions do not get the low-speed following capability or Traffic Jam Assist. The system is strong overall, but the most complete safety setup is reserved for the higher trims.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model is the redesigned hatchback version, bringing back the body style with more useful cargo space and a more modern cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned hatchback body, strong safety, and a practical daily-driver setup, the 2022 is the right year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer market to shop carefully and focus on clean-history examples with the trim and features you actually want.
