How much does the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 4.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,230 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The 2022 Civic Hatchback is described as redesigned for 2022, and it brings back the hatchback body style with the practicality of a useful cargo area. That makes it a strong fit if you want everyday versatility without giving up the Civic’s familiar character.

The trade-offs are real, though: the base engine is underwhelming, the stereo is lacking, and value for money is not a strength. Even so, the manual transmission availability, standard advanced safety features, and spacious cabin help it stand out if you prioritize usability and a more engaging driving experience.

36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Civic Hatchback is presented as a well-rounded redesign with a spacious cabin and a practical hatchback layout, which are the kinds of traits that usually support easier day-to-day ownership. Its safety equipment is also comprehensive, and the expert notes describe the driver aids as improved and more refined than before.

The performance notes also point to a car that is generally easy to live with, with the CVT working well with the turbocharged engine and the manual gearbox described as especially good. That said, the value-focused critique and the limited availability of some desirable features on lower trims mean you should still pay close attention to how a used example was equipped and maintained.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a car that was bought cheaply but not cared for as well, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body repairs or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or warning lights. Focus on overall condition rather than just trim level, because the best-equipped versions concentrate a lot of the desirable features at the top of the range.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring are the trims named for this model year. The lower trims get the 7-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard digital instrumentation, while Sport Touring adds the 9-inch screen, wireless smartphone integration, navigation, and the 12-speaker Bose audio system. The base trims also miss some of the more desirable safety and convenience features, which makes trim selection especially important.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while the EX-L and Sport Touring upgrade to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The CVT works well with the turbo engine, and the manual transmission is described as a real sweetheart.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for Sport Touring.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L get a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sport Touring upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, navigation, and the Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport Touring with the CVT should get 33 mpg in combined driving, while the manual is rated at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the most affordable way into the hatchback, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the standard safety suite and the 7-inch touchscreen, but you miss out on some of the more desirable convenience and tech upgrades that make the higher trims easier to recommend.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It still keeps the manual-transmission option, which makes it the trim to target if you want a more engaging drive without paying for the most expensive model.
• EX-L: This trim is the better choice if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and more upscale everyday comfort. It also adds blind-spot warning, which is a meaningful safety upgrade over the lower trims.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully featured version, with the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, navigation, Bose audio, and the most complete safety and convenience package. It is the right pick if you want the most polished Civic Hatchback experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is exclusive to Sport Touring.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $22,962 sits slightly below last year's $24,089.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, the softer pricing means there may be less room for appreciation, so condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter even more when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 redesign brings back the hatchback body style with a more practical cargo area and a more modern cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Civic Hatchback with strong practicality, standard safety tech, and a broad used-market selection, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and shop for the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than focusing only on the newest badge.
