How much does the 2022 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,746 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its blend of technology, comfort, and driving performance, along with its smooth ride and impressive fuel economy. The redesign also gives you a more polished, well-rounded compact sedan with strong handling and plenty of cargo space.

The main trade-offs are the base stereo and the value equation, since the car is described as poor value for money. If you want a compact car that feels refined and useful for everyday driving, the Civic fits that brief well.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 34.5% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car people trust for its blend of comfort, technology, and driving performance, while also highlighting smooth ride quality and impressive fuel economy. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of dependability by describing the Civic as predictable, satisfying, and free of sudden or unexpected behavior.

Honda’s safety and driver-assistance setup also adds to the ownership case, with a refined suite of standard assistance features and improved sensor hardware. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic?

At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on how the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering, since some of the Civic’s most useful features are reserved for higher versions.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, Sport, EX, and Touring trims differ meaningfully, with the base LX missing blind-spot warning and the Sport also lacking it. The Touring adds the most upscale interior and tech, while the EX is the better choice if you want the proper blind-spot warning system.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while the EX and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower. The turbo engine is the stronger and more satisfying choice, while both pair with a CVT.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes Traffic Jam Assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-centering technology. Blind-spot warning is not offered on the LX or Sport, while the Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring trim upgrades to a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring returned 30.4 mpg on a 95-mile driving loop, versus an EPA estimate of 34 mpg.

Which 2022 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot warning and keeps the audio setup basic. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the fewest features.
• Sport: This trim adds a bit more equipment and still keeps the Civic affordable, but it also misses blind-spot warning and the stronger audio setup. It is best if you want a value-oriented middle ground without stretching to the upper trims.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the turbocharged engine and the proper blind-spot warning system. If you want the most important upgrade without going all the way to Touring, this is the one to target.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped Civic, with the larger digital display, wireless smartphone integration, premium audio, navigation, and rear cross-traffic alert. Choose it if you want the most polished version and are willing to pay for it.

For safety, the EX is the trim that finally brings proper blind-spot warning, while the Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,746 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,763, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $21,981 sits slightly below last year's $22,999.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the near term, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it means the market is not currently pushing prices upward, so resale gains may be more modest unless your car is especially clean and well equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes Traffic Jam Assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-centering technology. The system also benefits from a wide-view front camera and eight ultrasonic sonar sensors, and the Civic adds a proper blind-spot warning system on the EX, plus rear cross-traffic alert on the Touring.

A key caveat is that blind-spot warning is not available on the LX or Sport, which leaves those trims less well equipped for drivers who want that extra layer of protection. The Civic also gains rear side-impact airbags and a rear-seat reminder system, which further strengthen its safety case.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s redesign and technology updates make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,173, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,981 average.
• It is the outgoing generation, which can appeal if you want a proven compact car before the redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern Civic with stronger tech and a fresher design, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative.

How does the 2022 Honda Civic compare to the 2022 Toyota Corolla?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Honda Civic:

• Pros: Great handling, Plenty of cargo space, Impressive technology.
• Cons: Base stereo is lacking, Poor value for money.

2022 Toyota Corolla:

• Pros: Multiple body styles, Multiple powertrain options, Manual transmission available.
• Cons: Outdated technology, Potentially polarizing design, Sluggish performance.

Our experts score the 2022 Honda Civic 7.7/10 and the 2022 Toyota Corolla 7.2/10. The Civic comes across as the more engaging and better-equipped choice, especially if you care about handling and technology. The Corolla counters with more body-style and powertrain variety, but its weaker performance and older-feeling tech make it the less compelling pick overall.
