overall

Summary
With 1,074 currently listed for sale and an average price of $35,122.00, 29.9% of 2021 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Toyota Sienna 4.33 / 5 stars.
73.8% of 2021 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
The 2021 Toyota Sienna features a new hybrid powertrain, offering a spacious interior, excellent fuel efficiency, and a smooth driving experience.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Sienna marks a significant evolution in the minivan segment, introducing a standard hybrid powertrain that enhances fuel efficiency while maintaining a spacious and comfortable interior. Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K) platform, the Sienna combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors to deliver 243 horsepower, achieving an impressive EPA rating of 36 mpg combined for front-wheel drive models. This makes it a standout choice for families looking for a practical yet eco-friendly vehicle.
The Sienna's interior is designed with family needs in mind, featuring a roomy cabin with flexible seating arrangements and ample storage options. Notably, the second-row seats can slide up to 25 inches, making access to the third row easier. The vehicle is equipped with a host of technology features, including a nine-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring connectivity for all passengers. Safety is also a priority, with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 included across all trims, providing advanced driver assistance features. While some drivers have noted concerns about acceleration and interior material quality, the overall package of comfort, efficiency, and family-friendly features makes the 2021 Sienna a compelling choice in the minivan market.

HUD, Gas mileage, Radar cruise with lane trace assist etc. makes it a great vehicle for long road trips. Wish the BSM indicators appear on the HUD and have more options displayed on the HUD as well. Also the Android Auto\Apple Car Play navigation is not projected into HUD. Wish that was included as well.

Prices have softened 3.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,075 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $32,986.45, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2021 Toyota Sienna earns 4.33/5 from owners and 8.33/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.
Drivers consistently praise the roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and smooth handling. The hybrid setup and available AWD also come up as strong points for road trips and family use.
The main trade-offs are the acceleration and interior material quality, along with some complaints about missing connectivity features. In practical terms, that means you’re getting a family-focused minivan that emphasizes comfort and efficiency more than driving excitement.
Given its minivan mission, the Sienna fits you best if you want space, efficiency, and everyday usability in one package. 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers describe it as dependable for family duty, with strong mentions of trouble-free ownership, long-term usefulness, and a vehicle you can count on.
The hybrid powertrain is described as a proven setup, and the drivetrain is presented as a mature system rather than an experimental one. Toyota also backs the hybrid system with an eight-year/100,000-mile hybrid-related component warranty, which helps reduce ownership anxiety.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept and more about how the vehicle was maintained and used. A careful history check matters because family vehicles can accumulate heavy wear quickly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Sienna?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, cabin wear, and any signs of heavy family use. Focus on condition details that matter in a minivan: seat wear, interior trim damage, and whether the equipment you want is actually present.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE trim is the most basic, and it misses some of the convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range. You should compare the equipment carefully if you want more than the essentials.
- Powertrain: The Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for 243 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available across the lineup. The CVT helps efficiency, but it can dull throttle response.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alert, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The Star Safety System is also standard.
- Infotainment: A nine-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, and USB ports. Wireless phone integration is not called out, and over-the-air update capability is not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel drive models are rated at 36 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 36 mpg combined. All-wheel drive models are rated at 35 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2021 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: LE gives you the essentials, but you give up some convenience and tech upgrades that appear higher in the lineup.
- Sweet-spot trim: XLE is the best value for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and connectivity upgrades without jumping to luxury pricing.
- Premium/top trim: Platinum brings the richest tech experience, including the 10-inch head-up display and the most upscale feature set.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are positioned as an off-road choice for typical daily driving.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on all trim levels, so you do not need to move up the lineup to get the core driver-assistance suite.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Sienna?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,075 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $32,986.45, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $35,133 sits slightly below last year's $36,510.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum.
Because the Sienna has strong owner satisfaction and broad family appeal, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alert, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The Star Safety System is also standard, along with 10 airbags, LATCH anchors, a rear-seat reminder, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Crash-test ratings for this model year were not yet released in the source data. That means you should lean more heavily on the standard safety equipment and the vehicle history of any used example you consider.
Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Toyota’s redesign makes hybrid efficiency standard across the lineup.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $27,249, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $35,133 average.
- It offers class-leading cargo space and available AWD.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $37,442, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $35,133 average.
- It keeps the redesign and adds a Woodland trim for adventurous buyers.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of efficiency, modern tech, and family-friendly packaging, the 2021 is the strongest all-around choice. If your budget matters more than the redesign, the 2020 can save you money, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to pay more for a newer model-year option.
