CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Porsche 911

Summary
With 778 currently listed for sale and an average price of $179,476, 31.6% of 2021 Porsche 911s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Porsche 911 4.9 / 5 stars.
92.5% of 2021 Porsche 911 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Porsche 911 stands out because it blends the model’s classic rear-engine, boxer-six character with modern performance and usability. In this generation, the 911’s styling is still unmistakable, but the car is larger than before and uses a more intricate lighting design, with taillights integrated into a narrow strip across the rear deck. The entry-level Carrera came with a turbocharged 3.0-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine rated at 379 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automated dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. That combination helps explain why owners praise the car for being fun to drive while still feeling usable every day.
What makes the 2021 model especially appealing is the breadth of the lineup around that core formula. The Carrera 4 added all-wheel drive, while the Carrera S and 4S raised output to 443 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque and were also eligible for a seven-speed manual transmission. The Targa body style returned in 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S form, and the Turbo model brought a 3.8-liter boxer six-cylinder engine with 572 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo S increased those figures to 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet. For buyers, that means the 2021 911 could be tailored from a balanced sports car into something far more extreme without losing the model’s distinctive identity.
There are tradeoffs, though. The 911 is pricey new or used, has limited passenger and cargo space, and is expensive to maintain. Even so, its strong value retention and reputation for excellent all-around performance make it a compelling choice for shoppers who want a sports car that can handle both spirited driving and regular use.

This 911 Turbo S was painted in Aventurine which is one of the rarest Porsche colors, and it was paired with a sumptuous truffle leather interior. The only option missing was the front end lift. There is no comparison to the 911 Turbo S.

Great car. Drove it cross country. I was warned that it would be a rough ride and noisy. It has the PASM sport suspension and Sport exhaust. The ride was a smooth as could be and the exhaust was not too loud at all. Even my wife enjoyed the ride and agreed it was very comfortable and pleasant.

Outstanding. There are so many words that have already been written to describe the singular driving experience of the Porsche 911, but none that can actually convey that experience. Having bought my first Porsche 911, I finally get it. What a vehicle.

Is the 2021 Porsche 911 a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Porsche 911 earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise its fun-to-drive character, luxurious feel, excellent performance, and daily usability. That makes it appealing if you want a sports car that still works for regular driving, not just weekend runs. The main tradeoffs are limited space and some wishes for more modern cabin tech and rear-seat storage.
With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have enough market choice to be selective without feeling rushed.
Is the 2021 Porsche 911 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also leans toward dependable, trouble-free ownership in the sense that drivers repeatedly describe it as a car they enjoy living with over time. That kind of long-term praise matters when you are considering a used performance car, because it suggests the ownership experience has been rewarding beyond the first impression.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s appeal and more about how carefully it was maintained and driven.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Porsche 911?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s condition matches its asking price, especially on a performance model where maintenance and prior use matter. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for wear, service history gaps, and any signs of hard driving. Focus on overall condition, because a clean title alone does not tell you how well the car was cared for.

What is the 2021 Porsche 911's resale value?
The current average of $179,041 sits slightly below last year's $182,393.
That modest decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, it also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Because this model has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain healthy if your car is clean and well documented.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:

- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $128,352, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $179,041 average.
- It delivers iconic design and strong enthusiast appeal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $221,571, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $179,041 average.

The 2021 is the best fit if you want the strongest balance of owner satisfaction, inventory choice, and softened pricing. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2022 is the step up to compare.
