CPO so 10/10,000 warranty still valid. Reliable car, nice features, good gas mileage, good value. Pickup lacking but that’s because I was driving a v8 prior.

I was looking for a car that my family could comfortably ride in, and the Tucson was the perfect car for that. Its easy to drive and the ride quality is pretty good. Above all, the long warranty allows you to drive with confidence. However, drivers who seek the fun of driving may not be interested. I think I purchased it for my own purposes.

I really like the blind spot warning signal and the back up camera as well. I thought this car was a great price for only 1 owner, no accidents & low mileage. This car was missing the cargo pkg that should have came with the car as promised. I didn’t shop around for any other models, since this was the only one I wanted. My 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited, I bought brand new and would have kept it for the rest of my life, but on March 20, 2023 it was totaled in an accident.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2021 Hyundai Tucson prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2021 Hyundai Tucson cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,831 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,185.11 |
| Year-Round High | $19,084.18 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $19,083 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.56% |
Prices have softened 6.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,694 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $17,185.11, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, great handling, and strong feature content for the price. The user feedback also points to a practical, easy-to-live-with SUV that feels well equipped for daily use.
The trade-offs are familiar: some owners wanted more features such as a sunroof, and certain promised packages were missing. The expert review also notes that the base engine can feel sluggish and that the cabin can be noisy.
For you, that means the Tucson makes the most sense if you want a value-focused compact SUV with a polished feel rather than a sporty one. It fits shoppers who care about comfort, tech, and everyday usability.
32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2021 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, comfortable, and easy to live with over time. That kind of praise usually matters most when you want a used SUV you can count on day after day.
The expert review also emphasizes the Tucson’s value and its strong warranty coverage, which supports confidence in long-term ownership. The overall package suggests a model that should be manageable for used buyers who prioritize predictable ownership.
For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge itself.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Hyundai Tucson?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full inspection. Focus on service records, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches what the seller claims. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more electronics.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE includes 17-inch alloy wheels, manually adjustable front seats, a digital driver information display, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add features such as heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, leather upholstery, a 360-degree camera system, and an 8-inch touchscreen.
- Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.4-liter four-cylinder makes 181 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Both use a six-speed automatic, and both are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Standard driver aids include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver drowsiness monitoring. Adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, a 360-degree parking monitor, and blind-spot monitoring are reserved for upper trims.
- Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8-inch screen is available on higher trims, and features such as navigation, satellite radio, and wireless device charging are also available.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 23 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The AWD version of the 2.0-liter model returns 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The 2.4-liter FWD version returns 22 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, while the AWD version returns 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Value, SEL, Sport, Limited, and Ultimate.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE is the most stripped-down choice, with the smallest screen and the fewest convenience and safety extras. If you want the essentials only, it gets you into the Tucson at the lowest price.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value for many shoppers because it adds 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a rear-seat USB power outlet without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- Premium/top trim: The Ultimate is the most fully equipped version, with an 8-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, rain-sensing wipers, and a panoramic sunroof.
The upper trims are also where you’ll find more advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree parking monitor.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Hyundai Tucson?
The market looks moderately favorable if you’re selective and willing to compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,694 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.56% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,185.11, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $17,831 sits slightly below last year's $19,083.
That price movement suggests the Tucson has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A lower entry cost can make it easier to hold value relative to what you paid, especially if you choose a well-kept example.
The market also appears active enough that clean, well-priced listings should still attract attention. If you buy a Tucson with strong equipment and solid condition, you improve your odds of getting a better resale outcome later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Hyundai Tucson safe?
It earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Tucson comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver drowsiness monitoring. If you want adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, a 360-degree parking monitor, or blind-spot monitoring, you’ll need to shop higher trims.
That means the Tucson is a strong safety choice overall, but you should pay close attention to trim level if you want the full driver-assistance suite.
Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.56% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines strong value with a final-year version of the outgoing generation.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $20,969, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $17,831 average.
- It brings a redesigned body with more passenger and cargo space.
The bottom line: the 2021 is the better buy if you want the lower price, strong feature content, and a proven final-year version. If you’re willing to spend more for a redesign and extra space, the 2022 is the better path.
