Summary
With 238 currently listed for sale near Miami, FL and an average price of $26,785, 18.5% of 2021 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Mustang 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Ford Mustang stands out by blending its long-running pony-car character with modern technology and a distinctly retro attitude. It is described as a hyper-stylized package that calls upon its past while embracing the present, and Ford added a new Mach 1 trim for 2021. That combination gives the Mustang a broad appeal: it remains a performance car with a strong identity, but its trim lineup and feature list are meant to make it approachable for enthusiasts looking for relatively affordable driving fun.
It also has clear everyday tradeoffs. The Mustang is fun to drive and offers a manual transmission, but it comes with poor visibility, a cramped back seat, and not much cargo space. Those limitations are part of the package, yet they help define the car as a style-first sports coupe that prioritizes driving enjoyment and character over practicality.

The 2021 Mustang GT Premium is fantastic! Digital dash, comfortable leather seats (we have the 401A package), and that 5.0 Cayote engine...nothing sounds like it! Also, in my opinion, this generation is the BEST LOOKING Mustang of all time! Fantastic!

How much does the 2021 Ford Mustang cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $30,903 |
| Year-Round Low | $28,500 |
| Year-Round High | $31,826 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,734 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.62% |
Prices have softened 2.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,145 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Ford Mustang earns a 4.71/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its performance, styling, and features, and many highlight the excitement of driving it, especially in GT form. The Mustang also gets credit for its looks and decent fuel economy for a V8, which helps it feel more usable than some rivals.
The trade-offs are familiar: poor visibility, a cramped back seat, and limited cargo space. That makes it a better fit if you want a style-first sports car with everyday tech and strong driving character rather than maximum practicality.
With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a car people feel good about living with, with repeated praise for performance, looks, and features. The review summary also suggests drivers see it as a car they can count on for excitement and enjoyment over time.
The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of dependability by describing the Mustang as a well-rounded performance car with modern technology and a broad, approachable trim lineup. It also notes that the Mach 1’s factory warranty helps support confidence in the more heavily upgraded version.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about how hard the car was driven and maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Mustang?
At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of hard use. Because this is a sports car, condition matters a lot: pay close attention to wear on the brakes, tires, suspension, and interior controls.
If you are comparing multiple listings, focus on whether the equipment matches the trim level and whether the car has been modified or tracked. A clean, well-kept example is usually the safer buy than a cheaper car with unclear history.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base EcoBoost includes 17-inch alloy wheels, manual seats, pushbutton start, power door locks, power windows, a leather-wrapped shift knob, 4G LTE WiFi, a six-speaker stereo, and the basic Sync system with a 4.2-inch touchscreen and voice control. The EcoBoost Premium adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a black decklid spoiler, LED fog lights, ambient cabin lighting, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, heated and cooled front seats, two USB ports, and Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GT builds on the EcoBoost rather than the Premium, while the GT Premium adds leather-trimmed front seats, vinyl back seats, and two smart-charging USB ports. The Mach 1 adds a fully digital instrument panel, power-adjustable front seats, a split-fold rear bench, and illuminated door scuff plates.
- Powertrain: The EcoBoost uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, or 330 hp with the High-Performance Package. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 460 hp and 420 lb-ft, while the Mach 1 raises that to 480 hp. Both engines can be paired with a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic, and both are rear-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Ford CoPilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and parking sensors still cost extra.
- Infotainment: The base car uses a 4.2-inch color display with voice controls. Sync 3 brings an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system is described as intuitive and easy to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the EcoBoost with the 10-speed automatic at 21 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The GT with the automatic returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The Mach 1 is estimated at 15 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Mustang is offered in 5 trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Mach 1.
Here's the short version:
- EcoBoost: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Mustang experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder, standard driver-assistance tech, and the basic infotainment setup. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and care more about the Mustang shape and driving feel than luxury features.
- EcoBoost Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the most everyday comfort for the money. It adds heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and other convenience upgrades that make the car feel much more complete.
- GT: Choose this if you want the V8 experience without paying for the Premium comfort package. It adds the 5.0-liter V8 and the more aggressive hardware and styling that come with it.
- GT Premium: This is the better pick if you want the V8 and a more upscale cabin. It layers in leather-trimmed front seats and other comfort upgrades that make the GT easier to live with.
- Mach 1: This is the enthusiast choice, with the most serious performance hardware in the lineup, a digital instrument panel, and chassis upgrades that make it the most focused version here.
Ford CoPilot360 is standard across the lineup, but adaptive cruise control and parking sensors still require extra cost.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Mustang?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,145 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.62% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,500, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $30,903 sits slightly below last year's $31,734.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, trim desirability, and mileage than on broad market momentum.
Well-kept examples with the right equipment should hold up better than rougher cars, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to be selective. A clean history and strong presentation matter a lot when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang safe?
The 2021 Ford Mustang earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford CoPilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. That gives you a strong baseline of active safety equipment right from the start.
You still have to pay extra for adaptive cruise control and parking sensors, so some convenience-oriented safety features are not included on every trim. The Mustang also has good visibility for an American sports car, which helps everyday confidence behind the wheel.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 adds a new Mach 1 trim and pairs modern tech with classic Mustang character.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $26,399, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $30,903 average.
- It offers multiple powertrain options and strong value for money.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year mix of updated appeal, strong owner satisfaction, and a broad trim lineup, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Mustang formula.
