Summary
With 121 currently listed for sale near Chicago, IL and an average price of $31,138.00, 33.9% of 2020 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Toyota Sienna 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Toyota Sienna stands out by making a strong case for the traditional minivan at a time when crossovers get most of the attention. It is described as neither the newest nor flashiest minivan, but it is presented as especially compelling when space for people and gear matters most. Its biggest distinction is that it is the only minivan to offer all-wheel drive, a feature that will matter to buyers who want extra traction in a family vehicle.
Beyond that unique drivetrain choice, the 2020 Toyota Sienna’s appeal comes from the practical strengths that define the segment at its best. It offers plenty of cargo space, standard advanced safety features, and great handling, which helps it feel more rewarding to drive than its size might suggest. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the source notes poor ergonomic design and twitchy steering, so its strengths are rooted more in utility and capability than in polish.

This is my second Toyota Sienna XLE. Love the XLE model, it cruises smoothly on the highway and has the safety features we’re accustomed to. We wanted the 2020 as we didn’t want a hybrid which all 2021 models are, no choice in that. We do wish the backup camera had the yellow guide like my Highlander Limited model but overall we’re ecstatic. I look forward to driving this Sienna until the wheels fall off, literally!

Features OK. Pre-2021 Sienna holds more cargo than any other minivan made in the last 20 years. High priced, but will last 200,000 miles.

The Toyota Sienna is a comfortable, reliable van. If taken care of and I mean regular maintenance, this van will last a long time. I have owned a 2003, 2009, 2015 and now a 2020. I compared it to other vans and they are safe in addition to reliable.

The 2020 Sienna XLE has a nice base package included in the msrp. I think it drives better than an SUV and will get better gas mileage. And the cargo space is larger. Thumbs up on the Sienna

How much does the 2020 Toyota Sienna cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $26,993 |
| Year-Round Low | $26,552.14 |
| Year-Round High | $28,999.35 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $29,001 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.92% |
Prices have softened 6.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 1,061 listings available, you have a solid pool of options to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $26,552.14, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.
Drivers consistently praise its smooth driving experience, comfort, and spacious cargo area. They also highlight its safety features and reliability, which help make it feel like a dependable family hauler.
The trade-offs are familiar ones: pricing can feel high, and lower-end models miss some automated features. That lines up with the overview’s focus on utility over flash, especially if you want a minivan that prioritizes space for people and gear.
With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly point to reliability, and they describe the Sienna as a vehicle they feel good about counting on for family duty.
The expert evaluation also emphasizes its practical, durable character, with strong everyday usability and a setup that favors long-haul family transportation. Toyota’s standard maintenance coverage adds another ownership-friendly touch.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by family use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and interior wear. Because this is a family-focused minivan, condition can vary a lot depending on how hard the previous owner used it.
Pay close attention to how the doors, seats, and cabin controls operate, and make sure the vehicle feels tight on the road. If you’re comparing multiple examples, the cleanest history and best-maintained interior should rise to the top.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L comes relatively well equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, three-zone climate control, five USB ports, three 12-volt outlets, Bluetooth connectivity, a WiFi hot spot, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. The LE adds dual power sliding doors, black roof rails, a rear bumper protector, easy-clean upholstery, manual second- and third-row sunshades, and an overhead driver console. The SE adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a mesh grille, fog lights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a power rear liftgate. The XLE adds leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, an upgraded instrument panel with a color center display, woodgrain accents, and one-touch power up/down for all windows. The Limited adds leather front seats, leatherette second- and third-row seats, a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, a sliding-top center console, cargo-area storage, JBL premium audio, and navigation. The Limited Premium adds HID headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and the DVD entertainment system. The LE is the family-friendly value pick, while the SE is the recommended trim if you want the best balance of equipment and usefulness.
- Powertrain: All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and AWD is available on all trims other than the base L. FWD returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined, while AWD returns 18/24/20.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The Sienna uses a 7-inch touchscreen across the lineup. It supports Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth connectivity, and a WiFi hotspot, but the screen size does not grow on higher trims. Navigation and a JBL 10-speaker premium audio system are available on the Limited.
- Fuel efficiency: The FWD model returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined, while AWD versions return 18/24/20.
Which 2020 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2020 Toyota Sienna is offered in 8 trim levels: L, LE, SE, SE Premium, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, and Limited Premium.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a WiFi hotspot, and a strong list of everyday conveniences. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sienna, but you’ll miss some of the family-friendly upgrades found higher up.
- LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds dual power sliding doors, easy-clean upholstery, sunshades, and other family-focused upgrades that matter in daily use. If you want the sweet spot between price and practicality, this is the one to target.
- SE: This is the CarGurus-recommended trim, and it adds a power rear liftgate, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a more distinctive look. It’s the best choice if you want the most useful upgrades without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- SE Premium: This trim builds on the SE with a power moonroof, DVD entertainment system, EasySpeak intercom, and additional visual upgrades. It suits you if rear-seat entertainment and extra comfort features matter.
- XLE: This trim adds leather-trimmed seating, a color center display, woodgrain accents, and one-touch power windows. It’s a good fit if you want a more upscale cabin without going all the way to the top.
- XLE Premium: This trim adds more comfort and convenience equipment on top of the XLE, making it a stronger pick if you want a richer feature set and standard blind-spot monitoring.
- Limited: This trim brings leather front seats, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, JBL premium audio, navigation, and more upscale cabin materials. It’s the right choice if you want the most premium-feeling Sienna before the top trim.
- Limited Premium: This is the most fully equipped version, adding HID headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and the DVD entertainment system. Choose it if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.
Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on XLE and Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,061 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 69.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,552.14, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $26,993 sits slightly below last year's $29,001.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than broad market momentum.
Well-equipped examples with strong maintenance history should hold up better than rougher ones, especially because family vehicles can show wear quickly. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna safe?
It earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS in many areas, including side crash, rollover crash, and moderate front overlap crash.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on XLE and Limited.
The main caveat is the Sienna’s twitchy steering, which makes the standard lane-keeping and collision-avoidance tech especially relevant for highway driving.
Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as the only minivan offering AWD, which makes it especially appealing for traction-minded family buyers.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $35,049, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,993 average.
- It brings a major redesign with standard hybrid power.
The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and the unique AWD option, the 2020 is the better value play. If efficiency and a newer design matter more than upfront cost, the 2021 is the stronger long-term alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 remains the more approachable way into Sienna ownership.
