Used 2020 Subaru Legacy for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2020 Subaru Legacy cost?

Prices have softened 9.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 524 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable range of choices.

Is the 2020 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The Legacy fits you well if you want a practical midsize sedan with standard all-wheel drive, strong value, and a clear focus on safety and everyday usability. Its standard AWD and advanced safety features make it especially appealing if you want confidence in poor weather or a sensible daily driver.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and underwhelming base engine. Even so, the car’s practical mission and value-oriented positioning help offset those drawbacks for shoppers who care more about usefulness than flash.

36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Legacy’s reliability case is built around its practical design, standard all-wheel drive, and straightforward focus on safety and efficiency. Its expert assessment also points to strong value for money, which usually matters to used buyers who want a car that feels sensible to own over time.

The powertrain is tuned for everyday use, with the base engine delivering solid fuel economy and the turbo option adding more power for buyers who want it. The car’s standard safety suite and generally durable, function-first character support confidence in long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is more about living with the car’s technology and base-engine refinement than about its core mission.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Legacy?

At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork consistency, panel alignment, and signs of wear that could point to harder use or incomplete repairs.

Pay close attention to how the car’s technology operates in real use, since the infotainment setup is a known weak point. You should also make sure the powertrain feels smooth in normal driving and that the safety systems behave as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim comes with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, dual 7-inch touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, voice recognition, and Subaru EyeSight, while the Premium adds 17-inch alloy wheels, four USB ports, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, 10-way power front seats, and the All-Weather Package with heated seats, heated mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
• Powertrain: The base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trims use a 2.5-liter boxer 4-cylinder with 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited XT and Touring XT use a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer 4-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque; the base engine is efficient, but it can feel noisy when pushed.
• Safety package: Subaru EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, along with an alert when traffic ahead starts moving; standard safety equipment also includes front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The Legacy uses a massive 11.6-inch touchscreen on most trims, while the base trim gets dual 7-inch touchscreens; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also has over-the-air update capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns 27 mpg city, 35 highway, and 30 combined, while the turbocharged engine returns 24 city, 32 highway, and 27 combined.

Which 2020 Subaru Legacy trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru Legacy is offered in 6 trim levels: base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT, and Touring XT.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want standard all-wheel drive, EyeSight, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core safety and convenience features. It gives you the essentials, but the simpler dual-screen setup and basic wheel treatment make it the least polished choice.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 11.6-inch touchscreen, alloy wheels, four USB ports, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone climate control, a power moonroof, 10-way power front seats, and the All-Weather Package. If you want the strongest mix of comfort and equipment without jumping too far in price, this is the one to target.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a more expressive look, with 18-inch alloys, a trunk spoiler, a more aggressive front fascia, LED fog lights, red contrast stitching, leather dash cladding, and aluminum alloy pedal covers. It’s the style-forward choice rather than the value leader.
• Limited: This trim adds more comfort and convenience, including adaptive LED headlights, auto power up/down for all four windows, an 8-way power front passenger seat, driver memory settings, perforated leather upholstery, and heated rear seats. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• Limited XT: This is the first trim with the turbocharged engine, and it also adds dual tailpipes, a distracted-driving monitor, and a heated steering wheel. Pick it if you want more power without going all the way to the top trim.
• Touring XT: This is the range-topper, pairing the turbo engine with power-folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, full Nappa leather upholstery, and heated and ventilated front seats. It’s the most luxurious choice if you want the most comfort and the strongest feature set.

Subaru EyeSight is standard, so even the base trim includes the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 524 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,678, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $17,678 sits slightly below last year's $19,551.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly used market, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect pricing pressure unless the car is especially clean, well maintained, and attractively equipped.

The good news is that the Legacy’s practical reputation, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety focus should continue to support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold up better than bare-bones or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru Legacy safe?

The 2020 Subaru Legacy earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru EyeSight is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. It also adds an alert that tells you when traffic ahead starts moving, which can be helpful in stop-and-go driving.

Standard safety equipment also includes front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The main safety advantage here is that the core driver-assistance package is standard rather than reserved for higher trims.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a larger touchscreen and a more mainstream interior push while keeping standard AWD and strong safety.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,597, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,678 average.
• It keeps standard AWD while emphasizing comfort, efficiency, and safety even more.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with standard AWD and strong safety. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2021 is the cleaner secondary path for shoppers who want to compare pricing and equipment before deciding.
