Used 2020 Lexus ES for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2020 Lexus ES cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 857 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Lexus ES a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Lexus ES earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxury feel, smooth driving experience, quiet cabin, and comfortable interior. Those themes line up well with the car’s comfort-first mission, especially if you want a refined commuter or long-distance cruiser rather than something flashy.

The main trade-offs are its higher price compared with some rivals and its fairly pedestrian performance. That said, the ES is aimed at buyers who value everyday ease, premium materials, and a relaxed driving experience over excitement.

With 40.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop carefully for the right example.

Is the 2020 Lexus ES reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the car’s long-term comfort and confidence-inspiring daily use. That matches the ES’s reputation for being a car you can count on for commuting and road trips.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the ES as a comfort-focused sedan with a serene ride and a quiet, well-appointed cabin. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about drama and more about making sure the car was maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus ES?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any prior damage. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the cabin and electronics still feel tight and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 350 FWD base trim includes a power moonroof, synthetic leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity entry, push-button start, and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Luxury trim adds perforated leather seats, woodgrain trim, ambient cabin lighting, and the Premium Package content, while the Ultra Luxury trim adds a hands-free power trunk, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a power rear-window sunshade, and manual side-rear window shades. The F Sport stands apart with a unique black mesh grille, lower front valence, dark window accents, unique 19-inch alloy wheels, aluminum trim accents, unique heated and ventilated front bucket seats, aluminum pedals, and an instrument panel unique to the trim.
• Powertrain: The ES uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 302 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It delivers confident acceleration rather than standout speed, and the ride is tuned for comfort and refinement.
• Safety package: Every 2020 Lexus ES comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0, which includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, and lane-tracing assist. That standard coverage is a major advantage, and there are no trim-level gaps in the core suite.
• Infotainment: The ES comes standard with an 8-inch display, and a 12.3-inch screen is available with the Navigation Package. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system uses Lexus Remote Touch rather than a touchscreen. A 10-speaker premium audio system is standard, with an available 17-speaker Mark Levinson system.
• Fuel efficiency: The ES 350 returns 22/32/26 mpg, and the ES 350 F Sport returns 22/31/25 mpg.

Which 2020 Lexus ES trim should I buy?

The 2020 Lexus ES is offered in 4 trim levels: 350 FWD, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and F Sport.

Here's the short version:

• 350 FWD: This is the value play if you want the ES experience with the lowest entry price. It already gives you the core comfort and tech essentials, including the power moonroof, synthetic leather upholstery, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Luxury: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin with perforated leather, woodgrain trim, ambient lighting, and the Premium Package content. If you want the ES to feel more distinctly luxury-oriented without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Ultra Luxury: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused version of the ES. The hands-free power trunk, semi-aniline leather, rear-window sunshade, and manual side-rear window shades make it the most pampering trim.
• F Sport: Pick this only if you want the sportier appearance and the firmer, more distinctive driving setup. It adds unique styling, special seats, and available Adaptive Variable Suspension, but it does not turn the ES into a true performance sedan.

Every 2020 Lexus ES comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0, so safety coverage is strong across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus ES?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 857 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,482, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus ES's resale value?

The current average of $29,626 sits slightly above last year's $29,560.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you, that usually means the ES is holding its value in a predictable way, which is helpful if you plan to sell or trade it later.

Because the price range has remained tight, condition and mileage will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. A well-kept example should be easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Lexus ES safe?

The 2020 Lexus ES earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2020 Lexus ES comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0, which includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, and lane-tracing assist. That gives you a broad set of driver-assistance features right from the start.

The standard safety equipment also includes a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, stability control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. For used shoppers, the main takeaway is that safety coverage is a major strength across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while keeping the ES’s comfort-first formula.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,126, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,626 average.
• It adds a roomier cabin and multiple powertrain options.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction, stable pricing, and standard safety tech. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and want the broader powertrain choice, the 2021 is worth a look.
