How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 5.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,408 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda CR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, excellent features, and strong performance, and many also value the advanced technology and safety features for the price. The trade-offs are familiar ones: the technology feels outdated, and some interior materials come across as cheap. For you, that makes the CR-V a strong fit if you want a practical compact SUV that is easy to live with and broadly useful rather than flashy. Good and great deals account for 37.5% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many shoppers feel good about keeping, with repeated praise for its strong performance and overall satisfaction. The expert review also describes the CR-V as a long-running, well-sorted crossover that has had its wrinkles smoothed out over time, which supports the sense that it is built for dependable everyday use. Honda also notes that the 2020 model’s engine and safety updates improve its value proposition. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core formula and more about finding a well-kept example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

At 66% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, safety equipment, and interior condition. Because the CR-V’s value depends heavily on trim and equipment, it is worth confirming that the features you want are actually present on the specific listing. Pay close attention to signs of wear in the cabin, since the interior materials are a known weak point.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, with a small 5-inch screen, limited connectivity, and no blind-spot monitoring; higher trims add more useful equipment, while Touring brings the most upscale features.
• Powertrain: The 2020 lineup uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and a CVT, and it is tuned for strong fuel economy and easy everyday drivability.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams; blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are limited to EX trims and above.
• Infotainment: The LX gets a 5-inch screen, higher trims use a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the larger screen; Touring adds navigation and wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 30 mpg combined, while AWD models are rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the CR-V, but it is also the most bare-bones, with the smallest infotainment screen and the fewest convenience features. It makes sense only if you are focused on price above all else.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the larger screen, smartphone integration, blind-spot monitoring, heated seats, a moonroof, keyless entry, and a better audio system. If you want the most balanced CR-V, this is the one to target.
• EX-L: This trim is mainly about upgrading the cabin with leather upholstery, plus a power passenger seat, power tailgate, and Homelink garage-door opener. It suits you if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the price down.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped CR-V, with navigation, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and LED headlights. It is the right pick if you want the top trim, though the added cost is harder to justify than the EX or EX-L.

Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are standard only on EX trims and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,408 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,243, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $22,243 sits slightly below last year's $23,647.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. Even so, the CR-V’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should have a better shot at holding value than with a less popular compact SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned five-star ratings from NHTSA, including five-star ratings in the frontal crash test and side crash test, and a four-star rating in the rollover test. The CR-V also earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS, with caveats for trims below Touring because their halogen headlights scored only Marginal.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are standard only on EX trims and above. The main safety caveat is the weaker headlight performance on lower trims, which is why Touring stands out for nighttime visibility.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year brings engine and safety upgrades that improve fuel economy and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $20,332, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $22,243 average.
• It is refined, roomy, and historically reliable.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $23,864, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,243 average.
• It offers plenty of cargo space, standard advanced safety features, and excellent value for money.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the sweet spot if you want the updated engine and safety improvements without paying next-year money. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want a newer model and can spend more, the 2021 is the natural step up.

• Pros: Great handling, Fuel-efficient.
• Cons: Outdated technology, Interior materials feel cheap.

2020 Toyota RAV4:
