How much does the 2020 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 10.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,124 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 GMC Terrain a good car?

Generally — the 2020 GMC Terrain earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort and safety features, and they also like its spacious interior and economical performance. Many drivers appreciate the luxurious feel and intuitive entertainment system, especially in the Denali model. If you want a compact SUV that feels more premium than many rivals and works well as a comfortable, well-equipped daily driver, the Terrain fits that use case well. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2020 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use, with comfort, safety, and economical performance coming through as recurring strengths. That kind of long-term approval matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for routine commuting and family duty. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the model’s overall appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Terrain?

At 66% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the cabin, ride, and controls still feel consistent with a well-kept SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,124 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,932, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $16,932 sits slightly below last year's $18,987.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has become more accessible on the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still hold interest, especially if they present as clean, comfortable, and well equipped.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Terrain makes the most sense if you want the updated safety equipment and a more premium-feeling compact SUV at a used price that has already come down. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 is the stronger pick when you want the better balance of features, owner satisfaction, and current market value.
