How much does the 2017 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 5.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,283 listings available, which suggests a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain a good car?

Generally — the 2017 GMC Terrain earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to above-average owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, quiet cabin, and smooth handling. The Terrain’s roomy layout also makes it a practical fit if you want a compact SUV with enough space for everyday use and occasional extra passengers. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of opportunities to find a value-priced example.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a comfortable, quiet, and generally dependable-feeling SUV that many drivers have been happy to live with over time. The strongest reliability takeaway is to focus on well-kept examples, since long-term ownership risk can rise quickly if you buy a neglected one.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and how the SUV drives in everyday use, since a clean-looking listing can still hide expensive issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,283 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,778, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $10,778 sits slightly below last year's $11,375.

That softer pricing suggests the Terrain is still a value-oriented used SUV, which can help you buy at a reasonable entry point. For future resale, the current market trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, so condition and maintenance history matter if you want to protect value. A well-kept example should be easier to move later than one with visible wear or a questionable history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $13,708, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $10,778 average.
• It brings a redesigned look with a more modern overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the stronger starting point. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer design, the 2018 is the secondary path to consider, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2017 easier to justify.
