I was impressed with the features of the Ford Edge SE (i.e. backup camera, lane assist, multiple airbags, roominess, etc.) I was also impressed with the comfort of the seats and the comfort of the ride on rougher paved roads. Compared to my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, I have only found two negatives: 1. Remote start is not on the keyfob but only available through the phone app 2. Manual liftgate instead of the power liftgate

This car has all the bells and whistles. Lane assist, auto headlights and whipers, wireless charging pad, number pad entry so you can leave your car running but locked, hands free lift gate sun and moon roof. The list goes on.

It is the best vehicle in its class for the money. I would compare this to an Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GL class, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Blazer, Genesis GV70 and many others.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2020 Ford Edge prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2020 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,378 |

| Year-Round High | $18,985.53 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,968 |

Prices have softened 8.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,514 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $16,731.34, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — 4.63/5 owners rate it 4.63/5, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The expert rating is 8/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and modern features, and they also highlight the roomy interior and solid build quality. That makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly SUV or need extra space for taller passengers. On the other hand, the expert review notes uninspired styling and an underwhelming base engine, so the Edge is more about competence than excitement.
The Edge fits buyers who want a practical two-row midsize SUV with a strong tech and safety mix rather than a standout design statement. Good and great deals make up 31.2% of listings, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.63/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, spacious, and solidly built, with many drivers describing it as a dependable everyday SUV. The expert review also emphasizes that Ford kept the Edge equipped with current infotainment and safety technology, which helps it feel well supported for daily use. The Edge’s standard equipment and broad feature set reinforce that sense of confidence.
Some owners do mention technical issues, especially with the transmission and certain tech features, so you should pay close attention to how the vehicle behaves on a test drive and during a pre-purchase inspection. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is not broad durability so much as whether a specific example has been maintained and updated properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission, infotainment behavior, and any driver-assistance features that may not have been set up the way you expect. Focus on overall condition, since the Edge’s value depends heavily on finding one that has been cared for rather than just one with the right trim badge.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE comes with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. The SEL adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a nine-speaker premium audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic. The Edge ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, standard AWD, and a more engaging driving character.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go traffic capability plus active lane centering.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is optional on the SEL and ST, standard on the Titanium, and the system can include SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. A semi-digital instrument panel is available on the SEL and ST and standard on the Titanium.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.0-liter returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. With AWD, that engine returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined. The ST returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined.
Which 2020 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE gives you the essentials, but it lacks the upgraded comfort and convenience features found higher up the range. It still includes Ford Co-Pilot360 and SYNC 3, so you are not giving up the core safety and tech foundation.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value because it adds heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, LED fog lights, a premium audio system, and the option for Co-Pilot360 Assist+.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the most upscale choice, with genuine leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, remote start, a 12-speaker B&O sound system, and standard navigation.
- Off-road trim: The ST is the performance-focused choice, not the everyday value pick. Its stronger V6 and standard AWD make it appealing if you want speed, but it is less efficient than the rest of the lineup.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard on every trim, while Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is optional on the SEL and standard on higher-spec setups.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Edge?

- Inventory: There are 2,514 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,731.34, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $17,378 sits slightly below last year's $18,968.
That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your exit price later. The Edge’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should support demand, especially for well-equipped examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.63/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge safe?
The 2020 Ford Edge received a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. That gives you a strong baseline of active safety equipment on every trim. If you move up to the SEL, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and active lane centering.
The main caveat is headlight performance, since IIHS noted varying headlight results depending on trim level. That makes it worth checking the exact equipment on the specific vehicle you are considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.63/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It keeps Ford’s latest infotainment and safety tech while adding the ST performance variant.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $15,695, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $17,378 average.
- It offers a spacious cabin and strong EcoBoost power.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,793, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,378 average.
- It adds a 12-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The bottom line: The 2020 is the right pick if you want a well-equipped Edge with strong safety and tech at a softened price. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value path; if you want newer tech and can spend more, the 2021 is the upgrade to compare.
