Used 2020 Dodge Challenger for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2020 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have softened 4.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,047 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.0/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, stylish looks, and comfortable ride. Owners also highlight the handling and responsiveness of the engine, along with the spacious interior and unique design.

The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the styling can be polarizing. For you, that means the Challenger makes the most sense if you want a coupe that leans into character, performance, and everyday usability rather than broad mainstream appeal.

Only 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but still rewards selective shopping.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on the car’s strong performance and comfortable daily use.

The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Challenger as a serious, high-tech performance car that has aged well. It also notes that the Challenger represents affordable performance while still providing cabin space and creature comforts that make it usable as a daily driver.

If you are buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that fuel costs and feature content can vary a lot by trim, so condition and equipment matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance upgrades or higher mileage. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, tire wear, and whether the equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT starts with 18-inch aluminum wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and unique houndstooth cloth seats. The R/T Scat Pack adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher-performance trims add more specialized hardware and features.
• Powertrain: The SXT and GT use a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and an available AWD option. The R/T adds a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, the R/T Scat Pack upgrades to a 6.4-liter Hemi V8, and Hellcat models move to supercharged V8 power with much higher output.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing are also optional.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The available Uconnect 8.4 adds a larger screen and Garmin-based navigation with real-time traffic updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The base V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 19 mpg city, 30 highway, 23 combined. The V6 with AWD returns 18 mpg city, 27 highway, 21 combined. The 5.7-liter V8 with the 8-speed automatic returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined, while the least-efficient variant returns 13 mpg city, 21 highway, 15 combined.

Which 2020 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger is offered in 9 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, R/T Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Widebody, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Challenger’s core appeal with a 7-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It makes sense if you want the look and space without stretching for performance hardware.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 20-inch wheels, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a more distinctive cabin. It also keeps the available AWD option, which broadens its appeal if you want extra traction.
• R/T: This is the first trim that really leans into V8 character, adding a 5.7-liter Hemi and performance upgrades. Choose it if you want a stronger muscle-car feel without jumping to the pricier high-output trims.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the performance-for-the-dollar pick, with a 6.4-liter Hemi, Brembo brakes, launch control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen. It is the trim to target if you want the strongest blend of speed and equipment.
• R/T Scat Pack Widebody: This adds the wider body and wider tires for a more aggressive stance and sharper cornering confidence. It suits you if you want the Scat Pack formula with a more planted, performance-focused setup.
• SRT Hellcat: This is for buyers who want supercharged V8 power and the most dramatic acceleration. It is a serious step up in performance and cost, so it makes sense only if outright speed is your priority.
• SRT Hellcat Widebody: This adds the wider track and flared fenders to the Hellcat formula, making it the more complete high-performance choice. It is the one to consider if you want the Hellcat experience with better cornering poise.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye: This is the extreme straight-line option, with even more power than the standard Hellcat. It is best for buyers who want maximum output and are comfortable with the highest ownership costs.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody: This combines the Redeye’s top-end power with the Widebody’s broader stance and more aggressive handling setup. It is the most serious version if you want the full performance package.

The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, so look for that package if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can find opportunities if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,047 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,471, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $28,578 sits slightly below last year's $29,936.

That softer pricing suggests the Challenger has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can help you if you are shopping now. For a future seller, it means resale value may depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the model still has strong enthusiast appeal, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention. Higher-demand trims and cleaner histories are likely to hold up better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a “Good” result in many IIHS crash-test phases, though it also earns a “Marginal” overall score. It earns four stars in front driver’s side crash testing from NHTSA, five stars for front passenger side testing, and four stars for rollover testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, and other available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to whether a used example has the optional driver-assistance equipment you want.

Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model adds new colors, extra interior choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,556, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,578 average.
• It leans harder into straight-line speed and high-tech performance.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and broad enthusiast appeal. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year and want the next step up in price, the 2021 is the alternative to compare.
