Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and it fits a truck built for buyers who need maximum capability rather than everyday compromise. The 2020 Silverado 3500HD is described as a heavy-duty truck built around capability, useful hardware, and broad configuration flexibility, which supports confidence if you need a work-focused hauler. Its appeal comes from serious towing and hauling strength, plus practical features that make it easier to live with day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure a truck that may have worked hard has been maintained properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with prior damage or heavy-duty use. Put inspection priority on the drivetrain, towing-related wear, and overall condition, since this model is often bought for demanding work. Focus on how the truck was used and maintained, not just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $42,943, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $42,943 sits slightly below last year's $46,288.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to create better buying opportunities now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. For you, that can be a plus if you buy at the right price and hold the truck well. Heavy-duty trucks with strong demand and broad usefulness can still hold value, especially when they remain desirable for towing and hauling.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $45,901, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $42,943 average.
• It is described as fitting everyday life better while still delivering heavy-duty capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer truck with a more everyday-friendly feel, the 2021 is the better alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 is the primary path; for shoppers prioritizing a newer model year, the 2021 is worth the extra spend.
