How much does the 2019 Toyota Avalon cost?

Prices have softened 6.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 305 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a 4.93/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, comfort, and impressive performance, and they also call out its stylish design and strong technology. In use-case terms, that makes it a good fit if you want a large sedan that feels comfortable and composed rather than flashy or sporty.

The main trade-offs are outdated technology and the lack of all-wheel drive. Even so, the market still shows 33.1% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, especially because they repeatedly describe it as smooth, comfortable, and impressive to drive. The expert test-drive notes also emphasize that it feels composed and comfortable, which supports the impression that it’s built for steady everyday use.

Toyota also gives you a standard safety setup that adds to the sense of dependability, and the car’s value-focused positioning makes it easier to justify as a long-term ownership choice. For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about finding a well-kept example with the features and condition you expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or a higher-than-average number of owners. Focus on condition, feature operation, and evidence of consistent maintenance, since the best examples will be the ones that still feel tight, clean, and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto LEDs, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, heated power seats with pleather upholstery, heated mirrors, and the core tech and safety features. The XSE adds 19-inch wheels, gloss black exterior trim, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, paddle shifters, aluminum trim, microsuede seat panels, and extra engine noise through the stereo. The Limited shifts toward luxury with 18-inch wheels, a head-up display, leather and wood trim, heated rear seats and steering wheel, interior and exterior lighting upgrades, wireless phone charging, embedded navigation, and an upgraded JBL stereo. The Touring combines XSE and Limited content and adds adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and a Sport+ driving mode.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. The base XLE is rated at 26 mpg combined, while the rest of the lineup gives up 1 mpg combined and 1 mpg highway.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and auto-braking for rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch touchscreen with pinch-and-zoom navigation support, Apple CarPlay, Alexa support, a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 devices, and a Linux-based infotainment architecture. Android Auto is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The base XLE is rated at 26 mpg combined and 22 city/32 highway. The rest of the lineup is slightly lower at 25 mpg combined and 21 city/31 highway.

Which 2019 Toyota Avalon trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon is offered in 4 trim levels: XLE, XSE, Limited, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the best-value trim if you want the Avalon’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. You still get the full safety suite, the 9-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and the V6 powertrain, so it covers the essentials well.
• XSE: Choose this if you want a more expressive look and a slightly sportier feel. It adds 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, paddle shifters, and unique interior and exterior touches, but it’s more about style than a major mechanical upgrade.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the Avalon to feel more upscale. The head-up display, leather and wood trim, heated rear seats, wireless charging, navigation, and JBL audio make it the most luxury-oriented choice.
• Touring: Pick this if you want the most complete version of the Avalon’s sport-luxury mix. It combines the XSE and Limited equipment and adds adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, and the added Advanced Safety package is worth considering if you want the parking and camera upgrades.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 305 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,897, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Avalon's resale value?

The current average of $23,994 sits slightly below last year's $25,660.

That downward move suggests the market has become a little softer, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in excellent condition, you’ll be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings new tech, more power, and added standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,057, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $23,994 average.
• It marks the Avalon’s 25th birthday and reflects the revitalized fifth-generation direction.

The 2019 is the better pick if you want the stronger value proposition and a more affordable entry point. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year with a more premium-feeling flagship identity, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
