How much does the 2019 Toyota Avalon cost?

Prices have softened 6.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 308 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, comfort, and impressive performance, and they also call out its stylish design and strong technology. Those themes line up with the Avalon’s role as a full-size sedan that aims to feel more modern and more engaging than a typical comfort-first cruiser.

The trade-offs are straightforward: the technology is described as outdated, and all-wheel drive is not available. Even so, the Avalon still fits you well if you want a roomy, comfortable sedan with a more lively personality than many rivals.

With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to find a compelling example.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly highlighting comfort and performance in a way that suggests they feel confident living with the car over time. The expert evaluation also describes the Avalon as a strong value with a standard safety suite that helps it feel like a well-rounded long-term choice.

The cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that theme by emphasizing how much equipment you get for the money, especially if you do not need all-wheel drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about whether the car’s older tech and feature mix still match your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

At 60.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any prior damage or repair work. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment you care about is present and functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto LEDs, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, heated power seats, heated mirrors, and the core tech and safety features. The XSE adds 19-inch wheels, gloss black exterior trim, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, paddle shifters, aluminum trim, microsuede seat panels, and extra engine noise through the stereo. The Limited shifts toward luxury with 18-inch wheels, a head-up display, leather and wood trim, heated rear seats and steering wheel, lighting upgrades, wireless phone charging, embedded navigation, and an upgraded JBL stereo. The Touring combines the XSE and Limited equipment and adds adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ driving mode.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. The base XLE is rated at 22 city and 32 highway mpg, while the rest of the lineup gives up 1 mpg on the highway and combined cycle.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and rear cross-traffic auto-braking.
• Infotainment: The system centers on a 9-inch touchscreen with pinch-and-zoom navigation support, Apple CarPlay, Alexa support, a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 devices, and a Linux-based architecture. Android Auto is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The base XLE is rated at 22 city and 32 highway mpg, with an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined. The rest of the lineup gives up 1 mpg on the highway and combined cycle.

Which 2019 Toyota Avalon trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon is offered in 4 trim levels: XLE, XSE, Limited, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the best-value choice if you want the Avalon’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. You still get the full safety suite, the V6 powertrain, and the comfort-focused setup that defines the car.
• XSE: Choose this if you want the Avalon to feel a little more expressive, with sportier styling, larger wheels, a sunroof, paddle shifters, and a more aggressive cabin treatment. It suits you best if appearance and a slightly more energetic vibe matter.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the most luxury-oriented version, with leather and wood trim, a head-up display, heated rear seats, wireless charging, navigation, and the upgraded JBL audio system. It makes the most sense if you want the Avalon to feel closest to a near-luxury sedan.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich and performance-flavored trim, combining the XSE and Limited equipment while adding adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode. It is the right pick if you want the fullest Avalon experience and do not mind paying for it.

The safety package is a major strength across the lineup, and the Advanced Safety package adds useful extras if you find a car equipped with it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 308 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.70% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,844, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Avalon's resale value?

The current average of $23,957 sits slightly below last year's $25,676.

That softer pricing suggests the Avalon has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you reduce the amount of value left to lose over your ownership period.

The model’s strong reputation for comfort, safety, and owner satisfaction should help keep demand steady among used buyers. That matters because cars with broad appeal and positive ownership feedback tend to hold attention better when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon safe?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The available Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and rear cross-traffic auto-braking.

That standard safety setup is a major part of the Avalon’s appeal, and it helps explain why the car scores so well with experts. The main caveat is that some of the most useful extras are bundled into the optional package rather than included on every car.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings new looks, more power, and standard safety upgrades that make the car feel more modern.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,179, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $23,957 average.
• It moves the Avalon onto the TNGA platform and points the nameplate toward a more modern future.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong safety and owner satisfaction. If you are willing to spend more for the next model year’s platform update, the 2020 is the cleaner path for buyers who want the newest version.
