How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 5.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,001 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.7/5 user-rated car with an expert rating of 7.8/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and safety features, and they also call out its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Civic’s broad appeal as a compact car that can serve as everyday transportation while still feeling more upscale than its price suggests. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and the expert driving notes reinforce that impression by describing the Civic as smooth, refined, and easy to live with over time. The powertrain write-up also emphasizes that the manuals are well executed and that the CVT avoids the strained behavior you may dislike in other cars. The cost-effectiveness notes add that the Civic offers a lot for the money, which supports the case for dependable ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use or deferred upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or higher mileage. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is often worth paying a little more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic adds a gloss-black upper grille, a revised lower bumper, larger 18-inch wheels, and a high-quality interior with tight panel gaps and a simplified layout. The Sport trim adds a center-mounted exhaust and some of the exterior flash of the Si for less money, while the Touring trim brings chrome door handles and LED headlights.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport sedans and coupes use a 2.0-liter inline-4 with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while EX and above trims get a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft. The hatchback uses the turbo engine across the lineup, and the Si and Type R are the high-output performance versions.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The Civic uses an Android-based infotainment system, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda’s Garmin-based navigation on equipped trims. LaneWatch is available on certain trims, and the Touring trim adds the top-tier stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is described as quicker to respond and better in the mid-range than the base 2.0-liter, and the CVT is praised for avoiding the strained behavior common in some other cars.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core value and standard safety package without the extra equipment found higher up the range. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and don’t need the added convenience features.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more style and some of the Si’s visual attitude for thousands less. If you want a more expressive Civic without jumping to a pricier turbo trim, this is the one to focus on.
• EX: CarGurus recommends this trim, and it’s the sweet spot if you want the turbo engine, moonroof, power driver’s seat, and touchscreen. It’s the most balanced choice if you want more everyday comfort and stronger passing power.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo. Choose it if you want the most premium Civic experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,001 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,121, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $17,121 sits slightly below last year's $18,160.

That decline suggests the Civic has softened enough to be more approachable on the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because the Civic’s reputation and demand remain strong.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The 2019 Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories except the coupe’s passenger-side frontal crash test, where it earns a four-star rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R, and it includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. That makes the Civic especially appealing if you want advanced driver assistance without paying extra on most trims. The main caveat is that the coupe’s passenger-side frontal crash result is lower than the rest of its NHTSA performance.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s familiar formula of style, value, and performance with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,519, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,121 average.
• Minor design tweaks, more standard safety and convenience features, and more manual transmissions are the standout changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it delivers the Civic’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly updated version with extra standard features, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
