Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and style, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power from the ZR2 and V6 options. In use-case terms, that lines up with the Colorado’s straightforward, practical character: you’re getting a truck that focuses on usefulness, simple design, and capability rather than flash.

The market also shows healthy interest, with 29.1% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find satisfying over time, with praise centered on performance and comfort. The expert assessment also emphasizes the Colorado’s simplicity and sensibility, which can be appealing if you want a truck that’s easy to live with and not overloaded with complexity.

The Colorado’s straightforward setup can help it feel dependable, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the truck has been used, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen hard work.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 65.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-roading, or heavy daily work. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin and bed, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Colorado lineup ranges from a bare-bones basic extended cab with rear-wheel drive and a 4-cylinder engine to a loaded ZR2 crew cab with 4-wheel drive and the rugged Bison Package. The cabin is described as practical and easy to clean, but the simpler versions lean heavily into basic materials and an organized control layout rather than upscale finishes.
• Powertrain: You can get a 200-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a 308-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6, or an available 181-horsepower, 2.8-liter turbo-diesel 4-cylinder on LT, Z71, and ZR2 trims. The diesel is the towing standout, while the V6 is the more common choice.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera and Teen Driver monitoring, and crew cab versions also get a rear-seat reminder. Only the Colorado LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: The Colorado uses Chevrolet Infotainment 3 with a 7- or 8-inch display, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice recognition. It also supports OnStar services, with available 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, Bose audio, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive notes an observed 18.6 mpg on the testing loop and references an EPA rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2019 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, LT, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the simplest way into the Colorado, with the bare-bones extended cab and 4-cylinder setup described in the test-drive notes. It makes sense if you want the lowest-frills truck and care more about utility than features.
• LT: This is the trim to watch if you want the best balance of value and equipment, because it’s the one that can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. It also sits in the middle of the lineup, which makes it the most flexible choice for many shoppers.
• Z71: This trim adds off-road suspension tuning and, in the test vehicle, the Midnight Edition look with aggressive Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. It suits you if you want a more capable and more distinctive Colorado without jumping all the way to the hardest-core version.
• ZR2: This is the off-road-focused choice, and the expert notes make clear that if you’re expecting serious trail use, this is the trim to get. It’s the right pick if capability matters more than everyday comfort or price.

Only the LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, so that trim has the clearest safety-package advantage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Colorado?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, which gives you room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,371 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,832, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $21,835 sits slightly below last year's $23,729.

That decline suggests the Colorado has moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, especially because the market is already pricing the truck below where it was a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The Colorado earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with three-star rollover resistance.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera and Teen Driver monitoring, and crew cab versions also get a rear-seat reminder. Only the LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, so safety equipment is limited unless you shop carefully.

The expert safety assessment also flags weak headlights, hard-to-access child seat LATCH anchors, and a Marginal result for front passenger safety in a small-overlap frontal crash test. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim choice and compare the Colorado carefully against newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says the Colorado remains selectively competitive thanks to its available diesel engine, off-road-tuned ZR2 trim, and commitment to simplicity and sensibility.

The bottom line: If you want a midsize truck that leans into usefulness, straightforward controls, and available diesel or off-road capability, the 2019 Colorado is worth a close look. If you’re more price-sensitive or want a broader set of newer-feeling features, you should also compare it with other model years and rival midsize trucks before deciding.
