Is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?

User feedback highlights a smooth ride, sporty performance, and advanced technology, while also pointing to a vehicle that many owners seem happy to live with over time. The expert review also describes it as a road-oriented crossover that feels more at home on highways and byways than off-road, which supports the idea that it is built for everyday use rather than hard-duty abuse. Chevrolet’s standard Teen Driver and Rear Seat Reminder systems add some practical peace of mind, and the ownership risk for used buyers is mainly tied to finding a well-kept example with the right equipment and no hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Blazer?

At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, tires, and any signs of prior repair. Pay close attention to visibility, seat adjustment comfort, and the condition of the infotainment and safety equipment, since those are the kinds of everyday issues that can shape your ownership experience. If you’re considering a higher-trim example, make sure the added equipment is actually present and functioning as advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim leaves out blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while RS and Premier are the starting points for features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 193-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with a 9-speed automatic, and a 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 is also mentioned; the V6 and AWD add capability but can reduce efficiency.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on every Blazer except the standard L trim level, while adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist require RS or Premier trim as a starting point.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s infotainment system is described as responsive and attractive, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mentioned as common ways to connect; OnStar capability is also referenced, though the system in the test vehicle had some glitches.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes a combined figure of 21 mpg for the test vehicle, and also says the EPA expected 19.3 mpg on the reviewer’s testing loop and 19.8 mpg after nearly 500 miles.

Which 2019 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LT, RS, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense only if you’re focused on the lowest possible price and are willing to give up some safety equipment.
• LT: This is the trim that gives you the broadest middle-ground appeal, since it sits above the base model and can be equipped with more of the features shoppers are likely to want without jumping all the way to the pricier sport or luxury-oriented versions.
• RS: This trim is one of the starting points for the more advanced driver-assistance features, and it suits you if you want a more upscale, sporty feel with access to the Blazer’s better-equipped side.
• Premier: This is the most upscale choice in the lineup, and it’s the best fit if you want the richest interior presentation and the most complete feature set available in the model year.

Safety-package note: blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on every Blazer except the standard L trim level, while adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist start at RS or Premier.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Blazer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,406, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $18,407 sits slightly below last year's $20,548.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. A model year that has softened this much can still hold appeal if it’s well equipped and well maintained, but future resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how desirable the trim is. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet’s Teen Driver and Rear Seat Reminder systems are standard, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on every Blazer except the standard L trim level. If you want adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, or lane-keeping assist, you need to start with RS or Premier trim. The main caveat is that the base trim leaves out some important driver-assistance features, so safety equipment varies meaningfully by trim.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 Blazer stands out for its road-focused personality, sporty styling, and strong expert praise for look and feel.

The bottom line: If you want the Blazer’s distinctive styling and road manners at a lower used price, the 2019 is the one to target. If you’re shopping strictly for the newest-feeling feature set and broader standard equipment, a newer model year may be the better path, especially if you’re willing to pay more for added safety and convenience features.
