Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, safety features, and handling, and many also describe it as a good value. For you, that means this model year fits especially well if you want a sporty sedan with a premium feel and strong standard equipment. Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers also describe it as reliable, dependable, and safe for families, which suggests it has earned trust in everyday use. That kind of feedback matters if you plan to keep the car for years rather than just a short ownership cycle. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been well maintained and has a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Maxima?

At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put a pre-purchase inspection near the top of your checklist, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, maintenance consistency, and signs of past bodywork so you can separate a clean example from one that only looks good online.

What is the 2018 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $13,941 sits slightly below last year's $15,389.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit short-term appreciation, but it can also make the car easier to move if you buy well. Strong demand tends to follow models that owners like and trust, which helps support future resale performance.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,877, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $13,941 average.
• It brings a mild refresh with updated style, technology, and interior features.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if value matters most, because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a healthy share of deal-priced listings. If you want the newer refresh and are willing to pay more, the 2019 is the better secondary path.
