How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,805 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and they also like the drivability improvements and features such as remote start. The Wrangler’s appeal is especially strong if you want a vehicle with a deeply established identity, plus the kind of performance, practicality, and technology improvements that broaden its use beyond pure off-road image.

With 34.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly highlighting its pep, handling, and overall appeal. The expert review also emphasizes the Wrangler’s improved performance, practicality, and technology, which supports the idea that this generation is more livable than older versions.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the Wrangler’s rugged design and equipment tradeoffs can mean more compromises in comfort and refinement than you may want over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body condition, structural alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model’s appeal is tied to its rugged character, you’ll also want to pay close attention to how well the interior, roof, doors, and removable hardware have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport and top Rubicon ride on knobbier tires with smaller 17-inch rims. The base trim is the most stripped-down choice, so you should expect fewer comfort and appearance upgrades there.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 is paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with eTorque is also available. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the familiar choice for buyers who want the classic Wrangler feel.
• Safety package: The Wrangler’s safety equipment is limited, with a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. There are no driver assists beyond that, and the model’s structure and airbag coverage are major compromises.
• Infotainment: Sport models use a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara trims upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. An available 8.4-inch system adds navigation, a larger gauge-cluster display, and more connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while the V6 manual is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The automatic V6 gains 1 mpg in city driving.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Wrangler experience at the lowest price, but it also comes with the most basic equipment. Choose it if you care most about keeping costs down and are willing to live with the fewest convenience features.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more usable mix of everyday features, including the seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. If you want the Wrangler to feel less bare-bones without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
• Sahara: This trim is the more polished, street-tuned choice, with step rails, silver exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels. It suits you if you want the Wrangler’s style and capability but plan to spend more time on pavement.
• Rubicon: This is the most trail-focused trim, with beefier hardware, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. Buy this if off-road capability is your top priority.

Safety equipment remains limited overall, so even higher trims do not fully solve the Wrangler’s structural and protection compromises.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and move quickly when you find the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,805 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,711, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $20,711 sits slightly below last year's $23,206.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler remains in demand, but buyers have more leverage than they did a year ago. For a future seller, that means you should still expect strong interest if your vehicle is clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features.

The Wrangler’s broad appeal helps support resale value, especially because shoppers often seek out its distinctive identity rather than a generic SUV alternative. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a three-star rating for driver and a two-star rating for passenger in the frontal crash test cited by NHTSA, and the IIHS rated a Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front crash tests but Marginal in side-impact tests.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Wrangler’s safety equipment includes a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. That said, the model’s safety shortcomings are significant, especially given the lack of head curtain airbags and the structural compromises tied to its removable-body design.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model was thoroughly rebooted while staying true to the Wrangler formula, with improved performance, practicality, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the all-new-for-2018 Wrangler experience and you value its updated performance and tech, this year makes sense. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully for a clean example, but you should be especially selective about condition and history because prior incidents are common enough to matter.
