How much does the 2018 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 3.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,691 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of trucks to compare.

Is the 2018 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford F-150 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise its solid construction, reliability, powerful engine options, towing ability, and driving experience. That lines up with its role as a full-size pickup that aims to be useful for commuting, capable for work, and comfortable enough for everyday use. It also stands out as a more well-rounded everyday truck than rivals that lean harder into the luxury niche.

With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to solid construction, reliability, and a truck that many buyers feel they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also describes it as a well-rounded pickup that delivers in nearly all areas, which supports the idea that it is built for broad, everyday dependability. The available powertrains and strong towing capability add to that sense of durability for regular use.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a truck that has been worked hard or not maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford F-150?

At 71.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks that may have been used for towing or heavy work. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin and bed, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the asking price. Because pricing can run high relative to similar models, condition matters a lot here.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the base XL to XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited. The XL is a true work truck with plastic bumpers, cloth seats, and steel wheels, while the XLT adds power windows and locks, a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Higher trims add more comfort and luxury, but the base trim is the one most likely to feel sparse.
• Powertrain: The truck offers a 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, and a 5.0-liter V8. The base V6 makes 290 horsepower, while the 2.7-liter EcoBoost is the most efficient drivetrain configuration at 20 mpg city and 26 highway with RWD and the 10-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, front- and side-impact airbags, and trailer sway control. A 360-degree camera, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control are available on higher trims, with some features standard on the Limited.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 uses an 8-inch color screen and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is standard on most trims, while the XL, XLT, and Raptor can get it as an option.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient setup returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined. The Limited with the V6 and 4WD returns 17 city, 23 highway, and 19 combined.

Which 2018 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, with little more than plastic bumpers, cloth seats, steel wheels, a reversing camera, and an auxiliary jack. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the F-150, but it is the least equipped and feels the most basic.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and chrome bumpers. It is the trim to target if you want a more livable truck without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: This trim adds a much richer cabin with leather-trimmed front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, an 8-inch trip computer, ambient lighting, and push-button start. It is a strong choice if you want comfort and tech without going all the way to luxury-truck pricing.
• King Ranch: This version builds on the Lariat with unique wheels, unique leather bucket seats, a two-tone paint scheme, heated rear seats, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. It suits you if you want a more upscale truck with a distinctive personality.
• Platinum: This trim leans into style with a unique grille, 20-inch polished wheels, genuine wood accents, and voice-activated navigation. It is for buyers who want a premium feel and are willing to pay for it.
• Raptor: This is the off-road-focused model, with a wider body, unique grille, larger fender flares, skid plates, and beefed-up shocks. It is the right pick if you want the most specialized performance and trail capability in the lineup.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with body-colored bumpers, a satin chrome grille and door handles, 22-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and massaging front seats. It is the top choice if you want the most luxury and convenience features in one truck.

Safety equipment varies by trim, with the 360-degree camera and advanced driver-assistance features standard on the Limited and available on several other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,691 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,484, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $23,655 sits slightly below last year's $24,608.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. A truck with broad appeal, strong towing ability, and a reputation for reliability should remain easier to move than a less versatile pickup. Still, resale will depend heavily on trim, mileage, condition, and whether the truck has accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2018 Ford F-150 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, traction control, front- and side-impact airbags, and trailer sway control. Higher trims can add a 360-degree camera, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control that can stop and go with traffic. The Limited gets the most complete safety setup, while several of those features are optional on other trims.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers broad capability with best-in-class towing and fuel economy among full-size pickups.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $21,312, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $23,655 average.
• It adds a more serious off-road foundation and the return of the Raptor.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $25,800, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $23,655 average.
• It stays current with modest updates and broad everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if you want the best balance of capability, efficiency, and everyday usability. If price is your top priority, the 2017 can save you money, while the 2019 makes sense if you want a slightly newer truck and are willing to pay more.
