You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of past bodywork so you can avoid paying strong money for a car with hidden issues.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $12,791 sits slightly below last year's $13,302.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help limit how much value you lose if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your best resale outcome will likely come from choosing a clean, well-kept example and avoiding overpaying today. Strong condition and a good service history should matter more than chasing the highest trim or the flashiest options.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want a roomy, comfortable full-size sedan with good owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price than last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than the cheapest one.
