How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices are up 1.99% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,976 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Corollas to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, reliability, and ride quality. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Corolla’s compact-car mission: it’s built to be an easy daily driver with a straightforward feature set and a reputation for dependable ownership. You also get a market that still shows 31.8% good or great deals, which helps the value case.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers repeatedly call out the Corolla’s reliability, and the ownership feedback also points to a trouble-free, dependable character that many buyers can count on over time. The expert evaluation also frames it as a sensible, cost-conscious compact car, even while noting that some rivals are more refined.

Toyota’s standard safety and convenience equipment helps the Corolla feel like a well-rounded ownership proposition, and that can matter when you’re planning to keep a used car for the long haul. The main risk for used buyers is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 44.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body condition, brake feel, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair work, since those are the kinds of issues that can affect long-term ownership costs. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment carefully so you know whether the car has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim is well equipped with adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, air conditioning, a reversing camera, and Toyota Safety Sense P, while the LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and more interior trim. The XLE adds alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and a larger 7-inch display with navigation, while the SE and XSE add sportier appearance and convenience features. If you want the best value, the LE is the trim to compare first.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine with 132 hp and a CVT, and the performance notes describe it as slow, loud, and coarse. Efficiency is rated at 28 city and 36 highway mpg, but real-world results may fall short of the EPA figures.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes adaptive cruise, auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, and the safety content notes that trims below the SE come with rear drum brakes.
• Infotainment: Standard Entune includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and the system adds Siri Hands Free for iPhone users. The XLE upgrades to a 7-inch display with Entune Audio Plus, HD and satellite radio, plus navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Corolla is rated at 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, and the expert notes also mention a combined rating of 32 mpg.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes a reversing camera, Toyota Safety Sense P, adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, and air conditioning. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Corolla’s standard safety and convenience content.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and more interior trim without pushing too far upmarket. If you want a balanced used Corolla, this is the trim to target first.
• LE Eco: This trim adds low-rolling-resistance tires and efficiency-focused tuning to the LE formula. It’s the one to consider if your priority is squeezing out the most efficiency-oriented setup.
• XLE: This is the comfort-oriented choice, with alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch display with navigation. It suits you if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup.
• SE: This is the sport-themed trim, with 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a chrome exhaust tip, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It’s the right pick if you want the Corolla with the most aggressive appearance and a manual-transmission option.
• XSE: This builds on the SE with a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat. It’s the trim to choose if you want the sportier look but also want more comfort and convenience.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition builds off the SE and adds unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out. It’s mainly for shoppers who want the commemorative appearance package.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, and the safety content also notes that trims below the SE come with rear drum brakes.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,976 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.99% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 44.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,136, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,978 sits slightly above last year's $13,706.

That upward move suggests the Corolla has held demand reasonably well, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A model year with steady pricing usually gives you a better chance of recovering value, especially when inventory remains active and shoppers are still comparing trims carefully. The Corolla’s broad appeal as a practical compact car should help keep it on buyers’ shortlists.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Marginal result from IIHS in the small-overlap front-impact test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, which strengthens the Corolla’s everyday safety equipment. The caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result and the expert safety score, which signal that you should pay close attention to crash history and condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 44.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.99% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,855, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,978 average.
• It emphasizes fuel economy and cost-effectiveness in a straightforward, value-first package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the newer safety content and a broader used-market selection. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2016 can be the better value play, especially if you find one in strong condition.
