What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chrysler 300?

At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or interior wear that doesn’t match the mileage. Focus on overall condition rather than just trim level, because the 300’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether its luxury features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited starts with the smaller V6 and a solid set of standard equipment, while the 300S adds a more powerful V6, sport-tuned dual exhaust, paddle shifters, and Sport Mode. The 300C shifts toward luxury with Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and a dual-pane sunroof, while the 300C Platinum adds the most upscale trim and audio treatment.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, both paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V8 brings stronger output and a more performance-oriented feel.
• Safety package: The SafetyTec Package adds advanced brake assist, rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, full-speed forward-collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with stop, and ParkSense front and rear park assist. It is not standard on the base Limited.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is Uconnect 8.4 with an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, six speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and USB charging ports. Navigation is available on upgraded systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 19 mpg city and 30 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive, or 18/27 with all-wheel drive. V8 models are rated at 16/25.

Which 2017 Chrysler 300 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chrysler 300 is offered in 4 trim levels: Limited, 300S, 300C, and 300C Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Limited: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a well-equipped cabin, Uconnect 8.4 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated power front seats, and a comfortable luxury feel. It makes the most sense if you want the 300’s size and style at the lowest price.
• 300S: This is the best-value pick if you want more personality. It adds the stronger V6, sport-tuned dual exhaust, paddle shifters, Sport Mode, and available V8 power, so you get the most noticeable step up in driving character without jumping straight to the top trim.
• 300C: This is the trim to choose if comfort and upscale features matter most. The Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and sunroof make it feel distinctly more premium.
• 300C Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with the richest trim treatment, upgraded materials, and the premium audio setup. It suits you best if you want the most fully loaded 300 and are willing to pay for it.

The SafetyTec Package is available across the lineup, but it is not included on the base Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chrysler 300?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 584 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,919, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chrysler 300's resale value?

The current average of $13,919 sits slightly below last year's $14,778.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the model will hold price on name recognition alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract attention, but the broader trend favors buyers more than sellers right now.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chrysler 300 safe?

The Chrysler 300 earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it high marks overall, with the Small Overlap Front test rated Marginal.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a ParkView reversing camera, rain brake support, ready alert braking, and tire pressure monitors. The available SafetyTec Package adds advanced brake assist, rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, full-speed forward-collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with stop, and ParkSense front and rear park assist. The Marginal Small Overlap Front result is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2017 Chrysler 300 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 model year benefits from the updated Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the four-trim lineup and available SafetyTec Package.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, features, and satisfaction, the 2017 is a strong year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2017 stands out because it combines a lower average price with modern infotainment and broad trim choice.
