How much does the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

There are 888 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the driving experience, interior quality, and value for the price, and many also highlight the smooth ride and good fuel economy. The Tiguan’s compact-SUV setup makes sense if you want something practical but still a little more polished and driver-focused than many peers. With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people enjoy living with, especially for its driving manners and overall value. At the same time, the model’s mixed reliability reputation means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and any signs of past issues before you commit. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable only if you choose carefully and verify the car’s condition thoroughly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan?

At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the engine, cooling system, electrical systems, and any signs of water intrusion or sunroof-related issues. Focus on overall condition and maintenance consistency, because a clean-looking listing is not enough on its own for this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 888 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,129, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $9,129 sits slightly below last year's $9,569.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. Demand should remain supported by the Tiguan’s owner satisfaction and its appeal as a practical, upscale-leaning compact SUV.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should consider the 2016 if you want the Tiguan’s polished driving feel, strong owner satisfaction, and a used price that has already come down meaningfully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 is a sensible target when you find a well-documented, well-kept example.
