What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Avalon?

At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Focus on overall condition, since the Avalon’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the hybrid system has been cared for consistently.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.69% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 update brings a fresh grille, redesigned lights, a refreshed Entune system, and a new base trim replacing Touring.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated styling, strong owner satisfaction, and a refined large-sedan experience, the 2016 is the primary year to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, compare carefully against older listings and focus on condition, accident history, and trim equipment rather than chasing the newest example.
