Hitting its mid-cycle makover, the Subaru Impreza gets a much needed front facelift along with better technology inside. The compact commuter is still among the most capable and ready cars on the road—albeit with a smallish engine and less-than-thrilling transmission. Love-it-or-leave-it looks still split fans, but finally the Impreza offers better looks inside.

The car drove and handled well. The features are pretty bare bones, and the paint has some nicks, especially on the hood. The AC was not working at the time of my test drive.
