Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Subaru Impreza earns 4/5 from users and 8/10 from our experts. The expert score reflects a compact commuter that improves on interior amenities, cabin quietness, and in-car technology while keeping the all-weather capability that defines the model. It also benefits from a mid-cycle refresh that adds a sharper front end and a more polished cabin feel.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

For you, that means the Impreza makes the most sense if you want practical transportation with standard all-wheel-drive confidence and a more refined interior than earlier versions. The 30.9% share of good and great deals suggests there are still attractive listings to find.

Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2015 Impreza is presented as a durable, value-oriented compact with strong brand loyalty and low cost of ownership. Its all-wheel-drive layout and straightforward 2.0-liter flat-four setup support the sense that it is built for everyday use rather than drama, and the expert review also points to a capable, confidence-inspiring chassis.

The maintenance and ownership picture is helped by Subaru’s reputation for low ownership costs, which is a useful plus if you plan to keep the car for a while. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a car with this much practical appeal may have seen hard commuting or weather-duty miles, so condition matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru Impreza?

At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the car has been used heavily in harsh weather or as a commuter.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup is the most economical way into the car, while Premium packages add bigger wheels and rocker panels, and Limited trims bring the most upscale cabin treatment and a larger touchscreen.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 2.0-liter flat-four with 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque, and the CVT is tuned for efficiency rather than excitement.
• Safety package: EyeSight adds adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and pre-collision braking on the Premium trim, while the rest of the lineup gets 4-wheel antilock disc brakes plus stability and traction control.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 6.2-inch touchscreen, with a 7-inch system available on Limited trims; the car also includes a rear backup camera across all models.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT returns 27/36/31 city/highway/combined mileage, according to the EPA.

Which 2015 Subaru Impreza trim should I buy?

The 2015 Subaru Impreza is offered in 6 trim levels: 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, 2.0i Limited, Sport Premium, Sport Limited, and 2.0i Sport Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0i: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into Subaru’s all-wheel-drive compact commuter formula, but it leaves you with the fewest comfort and convenience upgrades.
• 2.0i Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the EyeSight safety suite with adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and pre-collision braking.
• 2.0i Limited: Choose this if you want the more upscale cabin treatment and the larger 7-inch touchscreen.
• Sport Premium: This trim is the better pick if you want the hatchback body style with a more practical setup and the manual-transmission availability noted in the review.
• Sport Limited: This is the most fully equipped hatchback-oriented choice, pairing the more versatile body style with the richer feature set.
• 2.0i Sport Limited: This is the most feature-rich example described in the review, with roof rack, fog lights, moonroof, keyless remote with push-button start, and the 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system.

The safety-package standout is EyeSight on the Premium trim, but it does not include rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting deep bargain conditions across the board.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 715 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.29% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 52.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,803, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $10,206 sits slightly above last year's $9,880.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The price trend also points to steady buyer interest rather than a softening market, especially for clean examples with good history.

Because the average price is still well below the original new-car range, you may not see dramatic appreciation, but you can still expect decent demand if the car is well maintained. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza safe?

The 2015 Subaru Impreza earns a Good rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard on the 2.0i Premium trim and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and pre-collision braking. The rest of the lineup comes with 4-wheel antilock disc brakes plus stability and traction control, and the review notes that EyeSight does not include rear cross-traffic alert.

Should I buy a 2015 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.29% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 brings a mid-cycle facelift and better interior technology.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $9,035, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,206 average.
• It offers an affordable, versatile, and efficient all-wheel-drive package.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded version, the 2015 is the stronger pick thanks to its updated styling, improved cabin, and better tech. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 remains the value play, especially if you can live with its older-feeling refinement.

How does the 2015 Subaru Impreza compare to the 2015 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2015 Subaru Impreza 8/10 and the 2015 Honda Civic 8.7/10.

The Impreza gives you standard all-wheel drive, a lower average used price, and stronger accident-free inventory than the Civic. The Civic counters with a slightly stronger expert score, a more efficient highway rating, and a much larger pool of listings to shop from. If you want all-weather confidence and lower purchase cost, the Impreza makes sense; if you want broader selection and a stronger overall expert verdict, the Civic has the edge.
