What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Impala?

At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether any prior damage affected alignment, panel fit, or electronics.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS comes with the standard 4-cylinder engine, while the 2LT and 2LTZ are the trims tied to the satisfying V6. The interior presentation is described as busy, and the more expensive versions are the ones that bring the stronger powertrain and richer equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 4-cylinder, and upgrading to the 2LT or 2LTZ is required for the V6. The V6 is the better fit if you want stronger passing power and a more confident highway feel.
• Safety package: The Advanced Safety Package includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning. The most expensive 2LTZ can also be equipped with adaptive cruise control and front automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The MyLink system supports OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Pandora, text-message readout, and multiple USB ports. It also offers a convenient storage compartment behind the display screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says to expect between 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, depending on configuration.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Impala trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, 2LT, 2LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Impala’s roomy cabin and traditional full-size-sedan mission. It gets the standard 4-cylinder, so it is best if your priority is value over stronger acceleration.
• 2LT: This is the best-value choice because it unlocks the V6, which the review specifically ties to the more satisfying driving experience. If you want the Impala to feel properly strong on the highway, this is the trim to target.
• 2LTZ: This is the top trim and the one to consider if you want the most equipment and the available advanced safety tech. It is also the trim required for the optional adaptive cruise control system with front automatic braking.

The safety package is available on other versions, but the most advanced front-crash-prevention setup is reserved for the 2LTZ with the added adaptive cruise control system.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 544 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,359, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $10,359 sits slightly below last year's $11,451.

That softer pricing suggests the Impala has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. It also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since cleaner examples should stand out more in a market where many shoppers are price-sensitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal impact and side impact tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Impala includes 10 airbags, and Chevy offers an Advanced Safety Package with blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning. The most advanced front-crash-prevention setup is tied to the 2LTZ with the optional adaptive cruise control system and front automatic braking.

One caveat is that the IIHS has not tested the Impala in every assessment, so there is no overall IIHS rating.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its predictable, consistent road manners and strong everyday passing power.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $9,815, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,359 average.
• It emphasizes standout styling and a more premium-feeling ride-and-handling package.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used buy, the 2015 is the better target because it combines a lower-than-last-year price trend with strong owner satisfaction and solid everyday usability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value-oriented alternative to compare closely.
