User feedback specifically calls out reliability, and the summary also describes the car as dependable and a strong long-term choice. The expert driving notes reinforce that impression by describing the Impala as predictable and consistent on the road, with smooth power delivery and a transmission that chooses gears well. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention Chevy’s 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that you’re shopping a model year that was still relatively new when these impressions were written, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Chevrolet Impala?

At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and make sure any prior damage lines up with the seller’s explanation and the car’s current condition. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more equipment to check. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and whether the electronics and comfort features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS starts with Bluetooth connectivity, OnStar telematics, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, 18-inch steel wheels, and a 4-cylinder engine, while the LS Eco adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, and the eAssist hybrid system. The LT 1LT adds the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, SD card slot, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The LTZ 1LTZ adds push-button ignition, remote start, heated front seats, a rear-view camera, 19-inch alloys, and more safety equipment. The LTZ is the best-value trim if you want the richest mix of comfort and safety features without going all the way to the top.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 195 hp and returns 21 mpg city/31 highway. The eAssist setup uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, electric motor, and lithium-ion battery pack for 182 hp and Chevy-estimated 25/35 efficiency. The 3.6-liter V6 delivers 305 hp and 21 mpg city/28 highway, and all Impalas use a 6-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The LTZ models include forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and passive keyless entry. Lesser trims can get many of those features as options, so check carefully if safety tech matters to you.
• Infotainment: The Chevrolet MyLink system uses an 8-inch touchscreen, steering-wheel controls, and voice controls. It supports Bluetooth streaming audio and Pandora internet radio, and the hidden compartment includes a USB port. The text does not mention wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, or OTA capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter engine is rated at 21 mpg city/31 highway, the eAssist setup is suggested at 25/35, and the V6 is rated at 21 mpg city/28 highway.

Which 2014 Chevrolet Impala trim should I buy?

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LS Eco, LT 1LT, LT 2LT, LT Eco, LTZ 1LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you Bluetooth, OnStar, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and the 4-cylinder engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Impala, but it’s the least feature-rich version.
• LS Eco: This trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, and the eAssist hybrid system. It’s the pick if you want better efficiency and a little more comfort than the base model.
• LT 1LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the MyLink system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Impala’s modern tech without stretching too far.
• LT 2LT: This version is essentially the 1LT with a V6 under the hood. Choose it if you want stronger acceleration and still want the LT’s equipment mix.
• LT Eco: This trim combines the LT features with the eAssist powertrain. It suits you if efficiency matters more than V6 power.
• LTZ 1LTZ: This is the most fully equipped version, with push-button ignition, remote start, heated front seats, a rear-view camera, 19-inch alloys, and more safety gear. It’s the right choice if you want the most premium-feeling Impala.

The LTZ models bring the most standard safety equipment, while many of those features are optional on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Chevrolet Impala?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 534 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,722, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $9,815 sits slightly below last year's $10,591.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but less favorable if you’re thinking about future trade-in value. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help offset some of that depreciation. The Impala’s broad appeal, comfort, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Chevrolet Impala safe?

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS in the moderate front overlap crash test.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, and OnStar with automatic crash response and roadside assistance. Higher trims add forward-collision alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, a rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and passive keyless entry. The LTZ also offers intelligent cruise control with crash-imminent braking.

Should I buy a 2014 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its dramatic redesign, upscale-feeling materials, and strong highway efficiency.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,359, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $9,815 average.
• It offers a bit more space and trunk room.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the car already brings strong comfort, style, and safety. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly roomier follow-up year, the 2015 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014.
