Is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Impala earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, spacious interior, and stylish design, and many also like the roomy trunk and easy-to-use tech. That lines up well with its use case as a big, comfortable full-size sedan that stays easy to live with. With 25.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort and a generally trouble-free feel in everyday use. The broader appeal here is that you’re looking at a car many owners seem happy to keep and live with over time. For used buyers, that still means you should verify maintenance history and condition carefully, since long-term ownership risk depends heavily on how each individual car was treated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, alignment, and signs of uneven wear or repair. Because this model is often chosen for comfort and space, pay close attention to cabin condition, electronics, and overall maintenance records as well.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 588 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,868, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $11,868 sits slightly below last year's $12,778.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter even more because buyers will likely compare your car against a fairly broad pool of similar listings. A well-kept example should still hold appeal thanks to the model’s comfort-focused reputation and broad used-market demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a roomy, comfortable Impala with solid owner approval and a softer used price than last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it can also make sense to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker alone.
