Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Sienna 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical minivan that does its job well, even if it is not the best in its class. It is aimed at buyers who value utility and functionality, which makes it a sensible choice for families who need space and everyday usefulness more than style or excitement.
Its most distinctive feature in the provided test-drive data is the Limited’s second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs, which turn the cabin into a first-class experience for passengers by offering serious stretch-your-legs space. That emphasis on passenger comfort is a strong appeal for buyers who spend a lot of time carrying people rather than cargo.

Have owned two AWD Toyota Sienna’s and looking for our 3rd. Great vehicles. More expensive than other minivans, but you get what you pay for.

Reviewed a 2014 Toyota Sienna on May 21, 2022
This minivan checks in most of the features a family can look for, it is roomy, has the most second row seats in class, huge cargo space even with the 3rd row seat up, the engine has enough power to haul the whole family, cargo and even tow 3500 lbs, it looks good outside, and the engine and transmission are pretty reliable mainly because of it’s timing chain design, pretty much bulletproof with adequate maintenance, the only drawbacks are it’s 2nd row seats not being stowaway ones, you will have to remove them to make more space if needed but that’s if you need a ton of space for cargo, they are also heavy and not that easy to remove. The other drawback is the interior front console materials, too much plastic which also looks cheap but surprisingly it takes the use and abuse a family can throw at it. The 2018 and up models have better materials but again, it’s matter of looks. I rather pick the Sienna over the Odyssey because of the Honda’s timing belt engine design, you have to do a major work every 75k miles which is gonna set you some $1500 back, not the Sienna, the Odyssey has a visually better front console, seats and overal interior craftsmanship, looks fancier but ultimately I believe the Sienna will go the distance with more authority, also remember the Sienna has more horse power and that’s also a plus when driving a heavy vehicle full of family people and cargo, thats why I rather chose the Sienna. There are other options like the Dodge Grand Caravan which has stowaway 2nd row seats, and a beefy engine but reliability is not on par with Toyota off course about $5k less on price, also consider the Kia Sedona, great alternative, very spacious and great design, this one and the Sienna have available ottoman 2nd row seats, rear entertainment system. All models getting better with the new technology.

Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
The overview points to a minivan that prioritizes comfort, utility, and performance, with lounge-style second-row captain’s chairs, strong cargo flexibility, and available all-wheel drive. The expert review backs that up with praise for its smooth ride, easy highway merging, and family-friendly usefulness, even if the interior materials and overall polish are not its strongest points.
There are 26.9% good or great deals in the market, which gives you a decent chance to find a strong-value listing.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview describes it as a practical choice for families seeking a reliable and spacious vehicle, and the expert review adds favorable dependability language, including a positive J.D. Power dependability result and an expectation of better-than-average reliability. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about how well the van was maintained and driven, especially if you want to avoid wear-related issues in a higher-mileage family hauler.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
At 52.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used heavily for family duty or long trips. Pay close attention to braking feel, cabin wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sienna L is the most affordable starting point, while the LE adds upgraded exterior trim, dark tinted rear privacy glass, power sliding side doors, rear bumper protection, upgraded easy-clean fabric, an 8-way power driver seat, manual window sunshades for the second and third rows, triple-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, upgraded speakers, a reversing camera, heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a universal garage door opener, and an overhead console with map lights, a sunglasses holder, and a conversation mirror. The LE is also the point where several convenience and safety features begin to appear, while the most expensive versions get the most advanced equipment.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 266 hp and 245 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic. The engine is described as strong and responsive, with easy freeway merging and confident everyday acceleration. The EPA estimate is 21 mpg combined, and the review’s real-world result was 19.3 mpg.
- Safety package: The Limited includes Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System. The review also notes that Toyota reserves much of the good safety equipment for the pricier trims, leaving the LE short on some of the advanced driver-assistance content.
- Infotainment: The Limited’s infotainment system is described as dated in screen size and resolution, though it keeps physical knobs and buttons. The Premium Package adds a Dual View rear seat entertainment system with a 16.4-inch screen, navigation with real-time traffic, wireless headphones, and a panoramic reversing camera. Bluetooth pairing and music streaming are described as fussy.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimate is 21 mpg combined, while the review’s observed result was 19.3 mpg. That gap is worth keeping in mind if you drive a lot or care about operating costs.
Which 2014 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The L is the entry point, but the LE is where you start getting the features that make the Sienna feel more complete, including power sliding side doors, upgraded interior materials, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, and more family-friendly convenience gear.
- Sweet-spot trim: The LE looks like the best value because it adds the most useful everyday equipment without jumping into the pricier luxury or sport-focused versions.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited is the most fully equipped choice, adding leather, heated front seats, parking sensors, Smart Key passive entry with push-button start, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and more advanced tech and comfort features.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims is aimed at off-road use, so there is no special daily-driver caution to weigh here.
The safety package note is simple: the most desirable driver-assistance features are concentrated in the higher trims, so you should verify equipment carefully if safety tech matters to you.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 891 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.38% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 52.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,493.19, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $13,217 sits slightly below last year's $13,402.
That kind of softening suggests the market is giving buyers a bit more leverage than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract family buyers, but the current trend does not point to rapid appreciation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna safe?
Except for a 3-star crash protection rating for the front-seat passenger in a frontal-impact crash, as assigned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2014 Sienna boasts impressive crash-test ratings.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The Sienna’s safety equipment includes a panoramic reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System that tightens the seat belts and prepares the braking system when a collision is detected. The review also flags the lack of a Lane-Departure Warning system and notes that Toyota reserves much of the best safety tech for the most expensive trims.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 52.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 offers strong utility, available all-wheel drive, and a family-friendly cabin with lounge-style second-row seating.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $15,138, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,217 average.
- It brings meaningful upgrades in safety and handling.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the easier buy because pricing is softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer version with broader upgrades, the 2015 is the stronger choice for shoppers who prioritize the latest improvements over upfront savings.
