Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Sienna 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical minivan that does its job well, even if it is not the best in its class. It is aimed at buyers who value utility and functionality, which makes it a sensible choice for families who need space and everyday usefulness more than style or excitement.
Its most distinctive feature in the provided test-drive data is the Limited’s second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs, which turn the cabin into a first-class experience for passengers by offering serious stretch-your-legs space. That emphasis on passenger comfort is a strong appeal for buyers who spend a lot of time carrying people rather than cargo.

Have owned two AWD Toyota Sienna’s and looking for our 3rd. Great vehicles. More expensive than other minivans, but you get what you pay for.

Reviewed a 2014 Toyota Sienna on May 21, 2022
This minivan checks in most of the features a family can look for, it is roomy, has the most second row seats in class, huge cargo space even with the 3rd row seat up, the engine has enough power to haul the whole family, cargo and even tow 3500 lbs, it looks good outside, and the engine and transmission are pretty reliable mainly because of it’s timing chain design, pretty much bulletproof with adequate maintenance, the only drawbacks are it’s 2nd row seats not being stowaway ones, you will have to remove them to make more space if needed but that’s if you need a ton of space for cargo, they are also heavy and not that easy to remove. The other drawback is the interior front console materials, too much plastic which also looks cheap but surprisingly it takes the use and abuse a family can throw at it. The 2018 and up models have better materials but again, it’s matter of looks. I rather pick the Sienna over the Odyssey because of the Honda’s timing belt engine design, you have to do a major work every 75k miles which is gonna set you some $1500 back, not the Sienna, the Odyssey has a visually better front console, seats and overal interior craftsmanship, looks fancier but ultimately I believe the Sienna will go the distance with more authority, also remember the Sienna has more horse power and that’s also a plus when driving a heavy vehicle full of family people and cargo, thats why I rather chose the Sienna. There are other options like the Dodge Grand Caravan which has stowaway 2nd row seats, and a beefy engine but reliability is not on par with Toyota off course about $5k less on price, also consider the Kia Sedona, great alternative, very spacious and great design, this one and the Sienna have available ottoman 2nd row seats, rear entertainment system. All models getting better with the new technology.

Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.67/10. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
The 2014 Sienna stands out for comfort, utility, and everyday practicality. The overview highlights lounge-style second-row captain’s chairs, strong passenger space, and up to 150 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear rows removed, while the expert review reinforces that this is a minivan built for function first. It also brings a 266-horsepower V6 and available all-wheel drive, which broadens its appeal if you want family-hauling versatility with confident highway merging.
The market shows 28.5% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview positions the Sienna as a practical family vehicle, and the expert review adds favorable dependability language, including a strong reliability outlook from Consumer Reports and a dependability award in J.D. Power’s study. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership burden.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a van that has been used hard or maintained inconsistently, so service records matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or vans with visible wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim level you want. If you’re shopping a family hauler, make sure the safety and convenience features you expect are actually present on the specific listing.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sienna L is the most affordable starting point, while the LE adds upgraded exterior trim, dark tinted rear privacy glass, power sliding side doors, rear bumper protection, upgraded easy-clean fabric, an 8-way power driver seat, triple-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, upgraded speakers, a reversing camera, heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a universal garage door opener. The Limited adds the most luxury and safety content, including Smart Key passive entry with push-button start, premium audio, 2-tone leather seats, memory for the driver’s settings, second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect.
- Powertrain: Every 2014 Sienna uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 266 hp and 245 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic. The engine is described as responsive and strong, and the available all-wheel drive broadens its usefulness in poor weather.
- Safety package: The Limited includes Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, while the Advanced Technology Package adds Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, and Hill Start Assist Control. Toyota reserves much of the advanced safety content for higher trims, so base and midlevel shoppers should verify equipment carefully.
- Infotainment: The Limited’s infotainment system is described as dated in screen size and resolution, but it uses real knobs and buttons. The Premium Package adds navigation with real-time traffic, a Dual View rear seat entertainment system with a 16.4-inch screen, wireless headphones, and a panoramic reversing camera.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 21 mpg in combined driving from the EPA estimate and 19.3 mpg in real-world testing. That’s respectable for a large minivan, but you should still compare fuel costs against your driving needs.
Which 2014 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The L is the value entry point, but it leaves out many of the convenience and safety features that make the Sienna easier to live with, including power sliding doors, upgraded audio, a reversing camera, and the more advanced driver-assistance content reserved for higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The LE is the best balance for many shoppers because it adds power sliding side doors, triple-zone climate control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, upgraded speakers, and a reversing camera without jumping to luxury pricing.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited is the most feature-rich choice, adding leather, memory settings, Smart Key access, premium audio, second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect.
- Off-road trim: The SE is the sportier choice, with sport-tuned suspension and steering, but it is less aligned with typical family-hauling priorities than the LE or Limited.
The safety-package note is simple: if advanced driver assistance matters to you, look closely at the Limited and its available safety equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 922 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.75% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 54.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,488.89, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $13,139 sits slightly below last year's $13,373.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than rougher vans with incomplete history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna safe?
Except for a 3-star crash protection rating for the front-seat passenger in a frontal-impact crash, as assigned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2014 Sienna boasts impressive crash-test ratings.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The Sienna’s available safety suite includes Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, a Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System that tightens the seat belts and prepares the braking system when a collision is detected. The expert review also notes a drawback: Toyota reserves much of the best safety equipment for the most expensive versions, and the lack of Lane-Departure Warning is a meaningful omission for a family vehicle.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.75% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 stands out for its lounge-style second-row seating, available all-wheel drive, and strong family-hauling utility.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $15,385, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,139 average.
- It brings broader safety and handling improvements.
The bottom line: if you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer version with meaningful upgrades, the 2015 is the better long-term pick. Price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014, while shoppers prioritizing the latest improvements should compare carefully against the next model year.
