What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

At 45.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, brake feel, and any signs that repairs were done quickly rather than carefully.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from the simpler L and LE to the better-equipped XLE and the sportier SE, and the base versions leave out some convenience and appearance upgrades that higher trims add.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 178-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and an optional 3.5-liter V6; the 4-cylinder is rated at 28 mpg combined, while the V6 is rated at 25 mpg combined and delivers much stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid, while Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE and includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator.
• Infotainment: Entune is the main touchscreen system, and higher trims can add Entune Audio Plus, Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Camry Hybrid is EPA-rated at about 40 mpg in combined driving, while the regular 4-cylinder is rated at 28 mpg combined and the V6 at 25 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, and Hybrid XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the most basic choice, and it is best if you want the lowest-frills Camry possible and do not mind the sparse equipment.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a nicer grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, with available upgrades like an 8-way power driver’s seat, Entune Audio Plus, and a power sunroof.
• XLE: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused gas model, with standard fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Entune Audio Plus.
• SE: Pick this if you want the sportier setup, including a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, a rear spoiler, and a more aggressive look; it rides firmer than the other trims.
• Hybrid LE: This is the efficiency-first choice, with about 40 mpg combined and hybrid-specific equipment such as an acoustic noise-reducing windshield and unique hybrid displays.
• Hybrid XLE: This is the most upscale hybrid, combining the Hybrid LE’s efficiency features with XLE-style equipment plus rear air vents and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a compass.

Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some leverage if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,469 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 45.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,347, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $11,991 sits slightly above last year's $11,889.

That small increase suggests the Camry has held its value fairly well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest and a market that has not weakened much.

The model’s practical reputation also supports resale strength, especially when the car has been well maintained and presents cleanly. If you keep service records and avoid accident damage, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS when built after December 2013, and it earns five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

One important caveat is that examples assembled before January 2014 were rated Poor in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test, so build date matters a lot here.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It offers a practical, affordable, and safe family-sedan formula with strong cost-effectiveness.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,269, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,991 average.
• It adds new styling, an upgraded interior, and expanded infotainment and safety technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core Camry strengths at a lower price. If you are willing to spend more for fresher styling and added tech, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
