CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 1,431 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,957, 27.5% of 2014 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Camry 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
46.4% of 2014 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward midsize family sedan that emphasizes sensible, affordable, and safe transportation. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for the segment, which fits its reputation for doing the basics well without trying to be especially exciting. For buyers who want a car that is easy to live with rather than one that aims to impress, that balance is a major part of its appeal.
A notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That safety recognition adds to the Camry’s practical appeal, especially for shoppers focused on family use and everyday commuting. Owners also praise the car’s reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, spacious trunk, and smooth ride, while some wished for additional features such as a backup camera.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

handles well, does great on gas, nice leather interior, touch screen, bluetooth, power seat for driver, quiet engine. Nice vehicle for families that are large or small. I enjoy the comfort and feel of the vehicle. Nice tint to keep the inside slightly cooler. Ample trunk space for packing and traveling

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns 4.4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, spacious trunk, and smooth ride. That lines up with the Camry’s role as straightforward, affordable transportation for commuting and family use, especially if you want something easy to live with rather than exciting to drive. Even with some shoppers wishing for more features, the model’s value-focused appeal remains strong.
28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability, dependability, and a car that’s good for both commuting and traveling. The expert evaluation also points to strong quality, dependability, and reliability, along with inexpensive ownership. Free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles adds another ownership perk.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t absorbed hidden wear from prior use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 46.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is often bought for practical daily use, condition matters as much as mileage. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, since some versions add useful convenience and safety features that others leave out.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from the basic L to the LE, XLE, and SE, with the L kept especially simple and the LE adding a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry. The XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more comfort features. The SE is the sportier choice, with a sport suspension, structural bracing, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, and a rear spoiler.
- Powertrain: You can find a 178-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or an optional 3.5-liter V6. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 brings much stronger acceleration and still feels eager in everyday driving.
- Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect is reserved for the XLE and Hybrid XLE, so lower trims miss out on that telematics suite.
- Infotainment: Entune is the main infotainment family, and the LE can be optioned with an upgraded Entune Audio Plus system. The XLE includes Entune Audio Plus, while higher trims can add Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder SE is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, while the optional V6 is rated at 25 mpg combined. The Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, and Hybrid XLE.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the simplest Camry, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest-frills way into the model. It is the most stripped-down choice, so you should move up if you want more convenience or comfort equipment.
- LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday features without pushing the price too high. You get a wider range of colors, a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, with options for more comfort and infotainment upgrades.
- SE: Choose this if you want the sportier look and feel. It adds a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, and a more aggressive appearance, but the ride is firmer than other trims.
- XLE: This is the comfort-focused upgrade if you want more upscale features. It adds fog lights, chrome trim, 17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and more available luxury and tech options.
- Hybrid LE: Pick this if fuel economy is your top priority. It brings the hybrid powertrain and unique hybrid-specific equipment, making it the efficiency-first choice.
- Hybrid XLE: This is the most upscale hybrid version, combining the hybrid efficiency with the XLE’s richer equipment and additional comfort features.
Safety Connect is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,431 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.22% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 46.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,344, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,987 sits slightly above last year's $11,843.
That modest increase suggests the Camry is holding value rather than sliding sharply, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. The market appears to support steady demand for this model year, especially because it remains a practical, value-oriented sedan. Strong owner satisfaction also helps keep buyer interest healthy over time.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics suite includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are also available, but not on every trim. Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, so lower trims miss that feature set.
One important caveat is that Camry examples built before January 2014 were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test, so build date matters.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 46.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.22% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014.5 build adds a Top Safety Pick rating and stronger safety appeal.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,053, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,987 average.
- It brings new styling, an upgraded interior, and expanded infotainment and safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced, proven-value Camry, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you can spend more and want fresher styling plus more tech, the 2015 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the smarter buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
