CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 99 currently listed for sale near Philadelphia, PA and an average price of $11,294.00, 28.3% of 2014 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Camry 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
73.7% of 2014 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward, sensible midsize family sedan that emphasizes affordable, safe transportation over flash. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for midsize family sedans, with nothing wrong with it but also nothing especially inspirational, which neatly captures its appeal: it aims to do the basics well rather than chase excitement.
One notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is the version rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That makes this Camry especially appealing to buyers who prioritize safety alongside everyday practicality. Owner feedback also points to reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, a spacious trunk, and a smooth ride, while some drivers wished for a backup camera. Taken together, the 2014 Toyota Camry comes across as a dependable, value-focused choice for commuting and traveling.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

handles well, does great on gas, nice leather interior, touch screen, bluetooth, power seat for driver, quiet engine. Nice vehicle for families that are large or small. I enjoy the comfort and feel of the vehicle. Nice tint to keep the inside slightly cooler. Ample trunk space for packing and traveling

2014 Toyota Camry Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2014 Toyota Camry prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2014 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,891 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,384.03 |
| Year-Round High | $12,007.02 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,938 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.39% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,409 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing condition and trim. If you find a listing below $11,384.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — 4.4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts point to a well-liked, well-rounded used sedan. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also call out the spacious trunk and smooth ride. The overview frames it as a straightforward midsize family sedan that focuses on affordable, safe transportation, which matches the way shoppers tend to use it. With 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to find value if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary emphasizes reliability, and the cost-effectiveness notes say the Camry rates well in quality, dependability, and reliability studies. The expert driving notes also describe it as simple and sensible, with a powertrain that feels strong and a chassis that delivers a solid, confidence-inspiring drive. Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles adds a helpful ownership perk.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so service history and maintenance records matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body alignment, paint consistency, tire wear, and any signs that repairs were not completed cleanly. Because this model year can vary meaningfully by trim and build date, condition matters as much as mileage.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from basic to more upscale versions, and the lower trims leave out conveniences such as automatic headlights, remote keyless entry, and other comfort upgrades. The sportier SE also trades ride comfort for a firmer setup.
- Powertrain: You can find a 178-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 28 mpg combined, or a 3.5-liter V6 that feels much stronger and returns 25 mpg combined.
- Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on select trims, while Safety Connect is reserved for the more expensive versions.
- Infotainment: Entune is the main touchscreen system, and higher trims can add Entune Audio Plus, Entune premium audio, app suite technology, and navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg combined, while the regular 4-cylinder and V6 return 28 mpg and 25 mpg combined, respectively.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, and Hybrid XLE.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Camry L is the bare-bones choice, with very limited upgrades and a stripped-down feature set.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Camry LE is the best value for many shoppers because it adds a nicer grille, automatic headlights, remote keyless entry, and available comfort and infotainment upgrades.
- Premium/top trim: The Camry XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome, 17-inch aluminum wheels, faux wood trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and Entune Audio Plus.
- Off-road trim: The Camry SE is the one to skip if you want the smoothest daily-driver ride, since its firmer suspension makes it noticeably stiffer over rough pavement.
Safety Connect is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are offered on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,409 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 45.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,384.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,891 sits slightly below last year's $11,938.
That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is usually helpful if you plan to resell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate future value and avoid sharp depreciation surprises. Strong owner satisfaction also supports demand from used-car shoppers who want a proven sedan.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2014.5 model is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it earns five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator, but it is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. One important caveat is that Camry examples built before January 2014 were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It offers simple, sensible, affordable, and safe transportation with a Top Safety Pick version available.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,170, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,891 average.
- It adds new styling and an upgraded interior.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter buy because pricing is stable and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for fresher styling and a more modern-feeling cabin, the 2015 is the better alternative; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2014 and shop for a clean, well-maintained example.
