Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want simple, sensible, affordable transportation. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also call out the spacious trunk and smooth ride. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want an easygoing daily driver for commuting or family use rather than something flashy or especially engaging.

With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive value opportunities.

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners repeatedly describe the Camry as reliable, dependable, and a car they can count on for commuting and traveling. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it rates exceptionally well in quality, dependability, and reliability studies, and the ownership picture is helped by free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles.

That said, used buyers should still focus on service history and overall condition, because long-term ownership risk depends heavily on how well the car was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

At 46.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven tire wear, brake condition, and any evidence that the car has been used hard or neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Camry L is the most basic version, while the LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry; the XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an Entune Audio Plus infotainment system. The SE adds a sport suspension, structural bracing, paddle shifters, unique 17-inch wheels, a body kit, a rear spoiler, and sport seats, but it does not get Safety Connect.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 178-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or an optional 3.5-liter V6. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 delivers much stronger acceleration and still feels well matched to the automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect, with roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, automatic collision notification, and a stolen-vehicle locator, is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE.
• Infotainment: Entune Audio Plus is available on higher trims, and Toyota also offers Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation on select versions. The system is straightforward to use, though glare can be an issue.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder SE is rated at 28 mpg combined, the V6 SE at 25 mpg combined, and the Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE, SE Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the most stripped-down Camry, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest-frills entry point and are comfortable with the fewest convenience features.
• LE: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like remote keyless entry and a nicer grille without pushing the price too far.
• SE: Choose this if you want the sportier look and firmer chassis tuning, plus the stronger personality that comes with the sport suspension, paddle shifters, and unique exterior details.
• XLE: This is the comfort-oriented pick, with the richest standard equipment and the most upscale feel among the regular gas trims.
• Hybrid LE: Pick this if fuel economy matters most and you want hybrid efficiency without moving all the way up the range.
• Hybrid XLE: This is the most upscale hybrid choice, combining efficiency with the XLE’s richer equipment list.
• SE Hybrid: This is the style-first hybrid option, but it does not carry over the SE’s sport-tuned suspension.

Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,478 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.58% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 46.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,344, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $11,889 sits slightly above last year's $11,703.

That modest increase suggests the Camry has held pricing reasonably well, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. It also means the market still recognizes this model year’s value proposition, especially for shoppers who want a dependable sedan without paying new-car money.

Because the price range is fairly tight, condition and mileage will matter a lot when you eventually list the car. A well-kept example should remain easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS, and examples built after December 2013 also earn an overall five-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect system adds roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, automatic collision notification, and a stolen-vehicle locator, but it is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

One important caveat is that examples assembled before January 2014 were rated Poor in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test, so build date matters a lot on this model year.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.58% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers simple, sensible, affordable, and safe transportation.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,191, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,889 average.
• It adds more appealing styling and a more polished interior.

The bottom line: if you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for a fresher look and extra features, the 2015 is the more modern-feeling choice. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the easier buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
