Yes — the 2014 Toyota 4Runner earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

It stands out as a traditional body-on-frame SUV in a market that has largely shifted toward crossovers, and it is described as rugged while still comfortable for daily driving. Is the 2014 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 4Runner is presented as a rugged SUV with the kind of construction that suits hard use, and the expert assessment says it can handle everyday driving while still delivering serious capability. Its 4.0-liter V6 and 5-speed automatic are described as traditional rather than cutting edge, but well matched to the vehicle’s mission.

The cost-effectiveness discussion also points to strong value retention, which supports the case for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the powertrain concept and more about finding one that has been maintained and not heavily abused off road.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota 4Runner?

At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a traditional body-on-frame SUV experience with true off-road capability and comfortable daily driving.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $21,869, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $20,022 average.
• The 2015 TRD Pro is built for hard-core off-road enthusiasts and excels on rock-strewn paths.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a broader range of listings, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If your priority is more specialized off-road capability and you are willing to pay more, the 2015 is the stronger alternative.
