At 43.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch prior damage, repair quality issues, or signs of uneven wear. Should I buy a 2014 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 43.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,390, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,026 average.
• It adds a sharper driver-focused character with multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: Choose the 2014 if you want the lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction in a stylish luxury sedan. Consider the 2015 if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a more performance-oriented feel; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2014 is the easier value play.
