why would the instrument indicator lights go out 2003 saturn l 300

The gauge light the work. But you can't see the indicators. so you can't tell how fast you are going.

It doesn't sound good. Sounds like a failure on the circuit board inside the instrument panel.

Check your thumb wheel dimmer for your dash lights. Move it up & down to increase the the illumination of your dash lights. If there is no change in the dash lights, tenspeed is probably right.
